SOLVED Weird glitch, might not even believe me. But the genes somehow have the wrong skin color.
So I have the clone mod, made em look like star wars clones because duh. So imagine my surprise when a baby pops out the vat the wrong color. So I check genes. Somehow, despite them all having been made tan, the genes for my regular clone are black and my clone commando is pale white; they still look tan. I am VERY confused and wondering if I somehow went insane. Seriously, this has never happened before, and I've had this same setup tons of times.

Could be a receive gene or a mutation, hard to say what might be causing unexpected cloning results without knowing your entire mod list, check the mods that add cloning first, then mods that add genes.
Germline genes, including natural hair and skin colours, must be drawn from parents. If the parents lack these germline genes due to being full xenotypes (and your mod will almost certainly be making the clones have xenogenes) then the infant will pick randomly from the list of natural germline colours.

If the particular pawn you used for one set of cloning had the correct germline colour, the infant clones would emerge with the same one. If you then switched out for another one that had the colour imposed on them by making all the clones uniform (through xenogenes) then the lack of a "parental" germline gene will have the cloned infant revert to picking from the base game list.

That's just it, it's the original starting pawns that borked. Tan skin, but their genes show different color. I only found out because of their clones.

Nope, it's the starting pawns as i said in the post. Tan skin but the wrong skin genes. I only found out when the perfect copy clones came out.
Figured it out, it was prepare carefully. For whatever reason, the skin color of the person before you press the prepare carefully button becomes genetic and that skin color is locked into their genes no matter what you pick in prepare carefully. Weird.
