Thanks!!
I hear a lot of players wish devs would keep making their games better for 11 years straight. We'll keep going.
For sure...but normally after a 1.0 release so that people can know what to expect :)
I bought the game many, many years ago. A lot has been added, some mechanics seem to have changed or been removed (balancing is a thing) but ultimately, firing it up I still know what to expect from it. I've seen games change far more drastically after a 1.0 release than this one in early access. Just get the game if the EA label is what's stopping you.
Realistically, how long is this game going to stay in EA? I don't mean it like a jerk. But if its actively getting updates for 11 years and still in EA, while the price continues to increase...
Is there no release goals, or is the plan to just keep going this route because it has "worked" for 11+ years?
It seemed pretty ready for release 10 years ago...or whenever the demo became available. What's the hold up? There's no reason you can't keep updating and adding content after release. or is it the trap that is perfectionism? (happens to the best of us)
Common case with indie devs, especially when it's a side gig, is that there's no manager or deadline or release schedule. So very often the pet project just grinds on and on with reworked systems and tweaks and "oooh that'd be neat" and endless code churn as the devs get more used to their engine. I've seen games like Hero Siege do the same where the entire genre of the game changes over time.

Real shame and a simple trap for devs to fall into. They just need to put a pin in the game, call it 1.0, and keep their cool ideas and sidetracks for the next project

Yea. and its no hate on the devs or anything. But i do think having a release goal is good to do THEN continue adding content. I know people, like me, have held off buying it simply because its EA. Been burned too many times. And this one is a rare case where it just keeps actively going. haha. Im still waiting. But this has been double bad for me since the price keeps rising. And now the discount price is still higher than the regular price it had back when it caught my interest

Seeing a lot of speculation here without reading up on the game's history or even asking us. You can see in the announcements how each update has made the game better, especially the last couple years. We also talk about the design and share project updates in the Discord every day and use player feedback to improve the game.

Meanwhile both devs have had demanding full-time jobs the entire time so this is a sprawling open world RPG built from scraps of borrowed time. Between the two of us, we've gone through many job changes, moving, starting a family, starting other companies. I also had to recover from a serious accident. And despite that, we've continued releasing consistent updates and improvements the entire time!

If it's already a great game now, what's wrong with making it even better?
We're getting pretty close to the end of the project roadmap, even if it took longer than we wanted. These final updates to the visuals and UI will really make the game shine. Then I can add the last chapter of story and final boss.

Also wanted to note that the game has cost $20 for years and that is the final price.

If you want to take a look at our progress, you can go to Settings > Betas > version .7 to see what the game looked like in 2019 and gauge whether that extra dev time was worth it.

Yes. Definitely speculating with limited information. I haven't kept up on the news. I was just wondering. I don't mean to say things that would put you in defense mode at all. Good job not letting circumstances hold you back and things going well.
