While I will not comment on who you might be talking about, deliberate misspellings are a common thing in misinformation campaigns from Russia and elsewhere. The more people argue over meaningless details, the less energy they have towards collaborating on real solutions.

So, I am not chastising you for talking about spelling, but yeah, if some organization had the goal to misinform people and bait outrage, misspellings and bad grammar have been apart of such operations dating back to 2013.

EDIT: Also, emails from 'Nigerian prince' like scammers also contain misspellings in order to only target people who do NOT read carefully.

Them filling the redirect servers with fakes is true, I have a guide on how to block it. That said, they seem to have turned those off for a while but we have both admissions they plan to activate them again, and old screenshots of the spam.
