Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch VR
I'm making a VR mod, if anyone's interested, let's give it a try.

The weapons are still in development; there will be FPS drops on poorly optimized maps. This isn't the final version, just for testing!

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch VR mod

mat_queue_mode 2 is now working. The weapon animation still needs some work.

I managed to improve performance by ~40%; the game does one render pass, then duplicates the GPU calls by moving the camera to the IPD.

MSAA support has been added, which can be enabled through the video settings in the game settings.

Known issues

HDR is not working

I'm looking for someone who knows how to use a blender to make a model of a baton. (Stunstick view model)
I'm really curious to try this, but worried using it might eventually result in a VAC ban. Is there a way to load it as a standalone mod or similar to avoid that potential issue?

The mod handles this automatically. VR mode forces the game into an insecure state, restricting you to non-VAC servers. In flat-screen mode, it runs cleanly with no modifications, so there's zero risk of a ban.

The weapon animation still needs some work.

Fixed reflection jitter in water.
Croshair fix.

I remember watching this HL2DM VR video 11 years ago.

Yeah, this is the vid that got my into VR. Sadly couldn't recreate it properly, but was able to play it a little bit on real servers. Just with a lot of latency and got a headache within a few minutes.

can you make it so that you can put it in your steam/steamapps/sourcemods folder?

It's completely safe; in VR mode, the game will only allow you to access non-VAC servers, and in normal mode, no hooks are used.

Switching between modes is automatic. If SteamVR is closed, the game will run in normal mode.

The launch parameters should be empty, the d3d9.dll file (and others) should be located with hl2mp_win64.exe
