If the devs sold water it would be free and all you can drink. They just want you to drink their water, money isn't so much the issue to them.

If EA, on the other hand, sold water the first sip would be free, but then they would charge you 600 hydration points per sip after that. The only problem is that the smallest amount of hydration points you can buy is 1000.

I honestly wish I was making that last bit up, but then painful memories of Mass Effect DLC come calling.
