Is there a good weapon out there?
I tried the creation club BFG, the anti-Material rifle, the Manwell rifle and the alien arsenal. The first three are un-useable because the recoil makes it improbable you'll hit what you're trying to hit. The last is a joke mod, the rounds are so slow people and creatures can dodge them.
As for mods, I tried the alien rifle (which was okay once I boosted the damage and removed the recoil in x-edit) and the "one hit wonder", which is so overpowered that you can one shot Behemoths. I'm thinking something in the two shot deathclaw and 4 shot Behemoth range.
Currenly using the stock rad rifle from Fah-hahbah and it's kinda underpowered. Like a bullet sponge game.

Overseer's combat rifle vault 81.

If it's too powerful, rechamber it for 308.

I tried that. 2x rounds and automatic. Great for early game, but it uses up a lot of ammo because it's automatic, and most of your shots go wild. It's also expensive, costing 3 fusion cores + cost
Not a bad choice, but I don't like automatics as they eat up ammo.
you can BS your way in for free if you got the skills... but with the advent of the Mechanist, Ada and more importantly those Robot Dummies, Fusion Cores are nothing to be excited about, in Survival you'll get sick of unloading the full ones and carrying partially used ones only. (cause they won't stack unless they match exactly)... if you have less than 300 by 60th level you're just not picking them up when you should. <blah blah cool Devil name> Sentrys sometimes have 4 or more.

what are you looking for, here?

most of the game is on a curve; you're either plinking with a BB gun, or you're one-shotting things that should be harder but aren't.

if you don't like expending ammo there's always melee... this is FO4, there's no upkeep, your weapons stay pristine forever! punch bash and slice all you want! no charge! no batteries for your shocker, no 2-stroke oil/gasoline mix for your ripper, no jet fuel for your rocket bat.

Why would you leave it as an automatic? I never do. I never use ANY automatics except Spray&Pray.

today, I'm saving perp points by not leveling up armor and weapons crafting perks. I suppose I should. It's just the 1500+ caps entry fee to vault 81, and then you have to play the wack-a-molerat death round because Vault 81 would let Austin die so they send the much hated "outsider" to fight the contagious mole rats.
For the service of being a useful idiot, they give SS a broom closet to live in. The whole thing is kinda depressing.
F.... orget about Austin.
Grapetat, beer, suit, hat, glasses = pass any speech check, no matter your base Charisma.

...and it brings the vale down too.

While we're forgetting things, forget Gun Nut. Buy the weapons with mods you want and swap them out.

End result... a 45 cal that is a great weapon or a 308 cal that demands a more tactical approach. Not OP not UP jus... P.
Weapon mods on Nexus???

ITS OVER 9000!!!!

<enough Dragon ball jokes...>

But seriously, many of them contain multiple weapons as well.
The Hunters Manwell Rifle is probaly the strongest weapon around early on, and sorry mate but if you wobble too much you have build your Rifle using character wrong.

You do know that if you hold your breath by pressing Shift you aim better right ?

I am guessing you do not bother with Gun Nut Perk, but that IS the way to flex out power from any given weapon. For some you need Science also. Perk up Dumb Robot.
Anything automatic and explosive/bleed/poison?...
Get a Kneecapper "anything gun" and the rest of the game is on Insanely Very Easy Mode.
Uninstall all CC content.

The using console before leaving the vault...

Use console to turn off the Skyrim reach-around that is the legendary system.

Use console to set level to 50...then wait for leveling animation to finish and set your perks while ignoring idiot savant of course...or any others that affect leveling.

Use to console to set level again but don't input a number to lock it to what you currently are...this will disable XP gain.

Voila...no more Skyrim enchanted items, bullet sponges, and uniques matter...also...now every weapon is a good weapon according to your chosen perks.

Welcome to RP for grown-ups...where choices matter from the start and you can't alter them on a normie impulse or whim.

(Consult your favorite search engine for the validity and specifics for each step.) :steamhappy:

It is. Put a silencer on it, larger magazine and it can serve a role as a sniper and short range weapon really well. Very high damage potential with the right Perks.

Yep, holding your char's breath by using the correct key for it, can make sniping a lot more accurate.

Use mods from fallout nexus. There's a bunch of weapon mods that include built in damage multipliers so you can adjust it to whatever feels right for you.

Also there are mods to increase or decrease player and enemy damage so you can minimize the bullet sponge enemies at higher levels.
Anti Material Rifle can oneshot alot of VATsless Survival stuff. so i guess there is a problem at your layer 8.

Yeah. I tried the Anti-Material rifle. The recoil makes it so you can't hit anything. if you're gonna do close range you might as well use that Enclave super flamer, cuz the ammo is a lot cheaper.

which mods? The usually don't give you the specifications of the weapon on either Nexus or Creation club. You get it and it's either under powered or you can't hit squat with it.
