Good advice. Especially because, at least in the Starfield forum, reporting them will lead to Steam moderation looking for reasons to ban you up to and including inventing nonsense reasons for clearly inoffensive posts (off topic and potentially offensive are big ones). I don't think the "powers that be" in the upper echelon at Valve are aware, but the regular Steam Support team is definitely aware and complicit. Better to just block and ignore.

Good advice. I have 81 blocked people on this program. Some of them are alts of the same person.

Probably two dozen of them are on this forum alone. I can think of at least two of them that are regulars that post here almost daily one of which, I guarantee some people would consider helpful.

Pretty much every time I block someone, I tell them I'm going to block them. They still post anyways. After I told them I wouldn't be able to read it.

The entire Bethesda community is toxic, and that doesn't even include the deliberate trolling that the younger generations find entertaining.

The modders sit in their private discords like little fiefdoms with teams of admins running interference so they don't have to talk to people, forgetting the fact that what they do is voluntary.

The people who download mods want the modders to account for their ignorance and the hundreds of mods they're already running, and the features and stories they think are "cool" in their own head canon. Oh, and instant responses.

Bethesda releases monetary slop on a regular basis, and the fanbase gaslights people into trying to convince them these are good things. That updating a game after 10 years is somehow a positive when it breaks it further. That it's YOUR fault you didn't keep your game from updating.

People have been defending anti-consumer practices for years, and somehow everyone forgets that "fan" is short for "fanatic." It's ok to like something. It's not ok to obsess over it and make it your personality.

People will regularly make a choice to stay ignorant by not bothering to look into how things work, or listening to people who have proven time and time again that they have actual sources and genuine intent.

I've been banned on the forums just for posting a youtube video from Bethesda's account, because "advertising."

Some of you seriously need a break.

None of these people are your friends. I've been going "online" since the days when I had a 1200baud modem, the "world wide web" didn't exist, and I was just connecting to my local library or university.

There are people who are super outgoing who are willing to take risks and travel and meet someone outside of the internet. You met them here, but you didn't become their friend here. You have no idea who these people really are.

Every day people get scammed, or worse, hurt because they believed something someone said online.

So my advice is to remember where you are, and keep it light. Take breaks. Leave and come back later.

If you feel like you want to post something, by all means type it out. But don't send it. Read it. Ask yourself how this is going to be received. If you think there's a chance it will be bad, then don't send it.

I have long ago lost track of how many times I've typed out complete messages and then just closed the window without sending and moved on. It isn't worth the drama.

Arguing on the internet is something I did when I was young and immature. Now I just block and move on.

they are probably stolen or hacked accounts used as throw away account need steam staff to find their main account they paied alot of money for all their games and delete it....

For the block feature to work well, one needs to use it correctly. For myself, once I put a poster on my block list, I do not respond in any threads or comments they make even ones to others. It's as if they do not exist.

I don't block others just because they disagree with me. My total blocked number is less than 100 and that is after more than 10 years.

And once you make my block list, the odds are you are there to stay. Only once have I removed someone from my block list. Some posters are just agitators and have ego issues.

If the Profile is disruptive consistently then report the Profile. The comments reports are fluff at That point. The disruption is persistent.
That account was blocked on sight.
Same with these blatant 0 post history necro's, anyone using a forum normally wouldn't need to test the account's privilege(they are aware of the necro annoyance so clearly know forums). They seem more likely to be up too no good.

Correct. Which is why I've always argued that the block feature should work like the old Gamefaqs forums (which are still around, I think) where once you block someone you can't see their messages and they can't see yours.

It's unfortunate that someone can cause you problems, and then you block them to avoid it, but they can just continue to badmouth you, you just don't hear it.

While that's true, I have no interest in trying to remember who everyone is, and go through the process of starting what seems like a reasonable conversation only to realize that this is the same person who acted like a fool in an argument 2 years ago and they haven't changed.

I just don't have time anymore for people who can't act right. I'm force to deal with them IRL on a regular basis, so why subject myself to them here.

And to be honest, sometimes there's a temptation there to want to correct someone who is blatantly saying something false, sometimes to your personal determent, and I'd just like to avoid that.

IN the ensuing exchange since the Mod here dont know our community they will ban anyone involved even if it was the good guy getting attacked and biting back.
For example nightmares is banned right now. WTF!

We NEED competent moderators n here. the ONLY way you can be competent if you "live" on that forum u are moderating yourself.

I never recognize anyone who make a moderation post on here.
I am sure they are not bad people but if they are unrecognizable it means they don't know who the problem is and who is just reacting to the problem.

I used to gain approx 90% of my friends from folks I met in person from internet forums in the 00s.
That used to be my entire friend circle.

Now people dont want to get to know anyone in person anymore, even if i happen to stop in their town for business or vacation travel.
Phone numbers to reach them when you happen to be n town?
Hardly anyone gives them out anymore in PMs.

Everything has gotten really uptight.
Is it a generational thing?
Maybe maybe not, or just changed threat perceptions with all the horror stories TV/legacy media is peddling.
The murdere/ serial Kilr/ serial Raptist (typos on purpose to guard against AI censorship) that you "met on the internet" has become such an absurd exaggerated trope in legacy media (probably on purpose) that is has become part of popular culture and is internalized.
Internalized even by those who "live" on social media and everyone is afraid.

you dont have to track and remember whos who. and why would you argue with people in the first place.

what is a forum for you? for me; you say what you think and move on. we share our thoughts and thats it, why insist and trying to convince?

main purpose of a steam forum is actually seeking help about the game in subject.. primarily..

and talk about the game, share screenshots etc. what else. no one has to share the same view with anyone.

unless you are insulted or your threads get spammed, you should just express your mind and move on. no need to take things personal and drive vendettas.
