How Do I Disable Updates?
The game doesn't need to be updated, Bethesda just hates that modders do a better job making their game than they do, so they keep updating the game just to break mods. I'm pretty tired of this stupid BS, so I want to know how to outright disable them.

They hate modders so much that they now are enabling those mod makers to use a VAST array of other file types, helped lipsync, bink inclusion, AND the ability to pack FAR more of those mods into the game!

Wow they really are "hurting modders".
In all the years of them Fing with updates, they could have built Fallout 5 with a new engine! Can't Fix Stupid!
just set steam to only update it when you launch the game.. and use vortex or MO2 to run the game using F4SE problem solved. this is litraly basic mod rule number 1.. been doing it from day one with the exepcton of the first next gen update.. and i havent updated sicne then.

Right, stuff they could have added 5 years ago. But instead, they stage releases of one or two extremely minor things, or change like one small line of code that does nothing, literally just to ♥♥♥♥ with modders. If you aren't aware of that fact, you clearly don't play Fallout 4.

That's obviously not true. It's mainly a Steam problem that you aren't able to directly prevent updates. GOG doesn't have that problem. You can directly set it to never update unless you specifically apply the update yourself.

Steam you need to use workarounds. There really ought to be more pressure on Valve to give customers the option to update by their own choice, like PC games have historically always worked before it became the main storefront.

First, what you claim to be a fact is nonsense. Second, your conclusion that someone with over 5000 hours in FO4 doesn't play is also nonsense.

First, it's a well known fact, and the stated reason why Bethesda made Creation Club. Second, letting the launcher run in the background 24/7 is not playing the game.

Your claim is made without evidence, and thus can be dismissed without evidence.

Second, letting the launcher run in the background 24/7 is not playing the game.
And your evidence that someone left the launcher running in the background 24/7 is...?
Go simp for Bethesda somewhere else, buddy.

Wrong again; I'm not simping for Bethesda by pointing out that your claims were nonsense.

And as I expected, you've failed to provide any evidence. Is that going to change, or would you prefer me to keep pointing out this failure...?

Buddy, just shut up already. Literally no one cares what you have to say. Go simp elsewhere.
I had a perfectly running game with hundreds of mods, worked on it for months ... then these greedy corporate ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did this stupid update and now everything is broken ... this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

You're adorable when you try to give orders, but we both know that you've failed again. You've provided no evidence; pointing this out isn't simping for anyone.

Do you find it tedious to keep making the same mistake...?

Valve are the reason that PC gaming is infested with lootboxes and season passes. Paid lootboxes got normalised via Team Fortress 2, and Valve literally invented Season Passes for TF2.

A long time ago - decades - I had to install Steam *in order to use a physical game I bought*.

That's invasve as hell no matter how many people want to simp for Valve.

I wish I'd refunded that game and walked away.

All Steam has done has make PC gaming worse, from making forums and reviews utter cesspools thanks to clown awards (too late now the damage is done, the 'bar is full of nazis' now), to normalising the idea of slop games LONG before AI ever got involved.

The only real benefit it has for PC gaming was the cheap prices (remember when the sales didn't suck?), but that only goes for multiplayer games (because most single-player games can still easily be found for free).

People are like 'down with billionaires' and 'down with corporations that make gaming worse' but they turn around and get on their knees for Valve and co with no trace of self awareness.

Steam is an invasive launcher with a storefront attached and nothing that anybody says will ever change that.

The fundamental reason for building Steam was to keep games up to date, who would've predicted it becoming the defacto store for PC gaming?

There is already a way to stop updates being an issue which is using Steam's beta branch functionality. Of course that would rely on Bethesda enabling it.
