Strange crash on start up before update and after update
Hi y'all, so I recently got this PC after upgrading from my laptop, and I have been getting this crash on start up that never happened to me before before AND after the new update. When I fresh install the game there are 0 issues, but the moment I install F4SE. when I launch through Vortex the game instantly crashes, and even after I disable SE, the game will still crash on start up even with no mods or plugins besides the officially released DLC AND even if I launch the game through the Steam startup page as a 0 mods run. I honestly do not know what else to do to stop this and no amount of troubleshooting has helped (I have even deleted OneDrive files and the Document files to ensure a FULL clean install. I will appreciate any help or suggestions.

the new update broke f4se again so that is the problem lmao
because the script extender has to interact with the game's exe to function it must be updated each time Bethesda patches the game because for reasons known only to Bethesda adding some creation club stuff and a couple patches requires the exe also be changed

btw never have One Drive enabled if you play Bethesda games as One Drive loves to change the file path to the documents folder thus breaking your game since it can not locate the ini files and your save folder

there is already a update for the script extender -

but any older mods using the script extender will require the Script Extender library also to be updated so bookmark this link and wait for it to get a update -

Oh its been updated but even a fresh install of it BEFORE the update would cause the game to break, modded (and only with F4SE active and launched through Vortex) or not.

Hi thank you! It seems none of the OneDrive stuff got added into my current reinstall BUT what makes me doubt it is a F4SE issue is that I would still get these crashes before the newest update, same conditions, modded and launched through Vortex (and ONLY SE active). And on steam with 0 mods active and only the 6 main DLCs as active plugins, which makes me wonder if something corrupts my game when I attempt to mod it.
One thing to note, just having the latest version of the script extender is not enough, you also need the address library that goes with it for older F4SE mods to function.

Not sure if it is linked to your current crashing, so many things can cause Bethesda games to become close to desk top simulators, but if you have the HD Texture DLC installed i highly recommend you uninstall it if your playing on a laptop. That DLC was made to sell 1080 Nvidia GPUs that came with 10gb of vram so for a laptop its very unlikely you have 10gb or more of memory allocated to just the video card.

Im not joking about the HD texture DLC being made to sell Nvidia cards, Nvidia went so far to upload a mod called Vault 1080 to go along with the release of that DLC. Nvidia likes to throw around money to get game devs to bloat their games to "encourage" gamers to buy the latest overpriced video cards. They been doing it for decades now.
