For everyone that uses free mods to play
Get fallout 4 on GoG. You can still play it without updating it on GoG. Yes it sucks having to buy the game again, because the people in charge of it are massively incompetant at their job.

All your mods you use on steam, will apply to the GoG version. They share the same base files interestingly.

You can wait for bethesda to figure out how to do updates without breaking everything. You can wait for the mods to update to compensate for the lack of proffessionalism from Bethesda. Or you can buy the game again and keep playing.

It's not an ideal solution, but it is a solution.

Or... you could learn how to mod your game before modding it. My method results in less long term headaches.
Isn't it easier to set the update property to update on launch, download/copy F4SE into the game folder and run the game via F4SE launcher that matches the version you want?
Wouldn't it just be easier to be patient, let the game update, and play or do something else while mods/F4SE (which was updated within a couple hours of the patch) update instead of buying the game again and giving Bethesda more undeserved money?
I have no problem staying on version 1.10.163 (pre next-gen) without repurchasing on a different platform.

This is what I do. Works a treat.

Except that not all mods will be updated. Some of your favorite mods will simply cease to function or mod authors of key utilities won't update for months. Kind of stinks to be in the middle of a play-through and have to stop because your modlist is now broken and you cannot play your saves.

OR just be patient like me.

I have GOG, but I have Fallout 4 here. I can wait.

Some mods will require the 1.10.163 version, mostly stuff that breaks in the update, like F4SE, MCM, Looks menu, etc.
Some mods, like PipBoy Storage, never were updated to the latest version. Bethesda depreciated the Papyrus used in PipBoy Storage.
PBS is a bit like Skyrim's Dwemer Storage Cube.
No need. There are many free mods available in Creations. Plus, the ones I use have never caused my game to break because of updates. All the ones I use ( over 175 ) work as intended.

But I guess I am satisfied with them because I am not looking for Titty mods.

Hasn't happened to me once in as many years as FO4 has been out. I use well over 200 mods; F4SE mods either get updated/replaced or compensated for in Address Library and usually the only thing that "breaks" is F4SE; non-F4SE mods just keep working because they can only break if they rely on vanilla data that is wholly removed (which doesn't happen).

If i knew how to do that, I wouldn't making posts like this or trying to understand how to manually add mods to my games.

this is the first thing you do when modding fallout 4. lol its been like this from day one...same with skyrim. SKSE. people really need to look up some tutorials online instead of making silly posts like this one and all the others on here crying about updates

thats fine if your new to modding..but if youv been around for a long time. and use mods that are no longer updated...this update will screw with all the old mods on a preivous mod list.. much better to just downgrade or not update.
