Need the name of a mod so I can search for it
There is supposed to be a mod that fixes the Vance “check your fire we’ve got hostiles” bug. Because I’m using a virtual Keyboard getting to the tilde takes too long for me to do it wile Vance is saying the line. Which seems to be a requirement. I need the mod. Does anyone know the name of the mod so I can search it in creation club? (I have to use creation club. No choice)

If you know it's going to be happening you should probably preemptively do so?

There are other ways, like having Dogmeat there - he can search and will alert you if there are enemies still present.

However if you already have access to the console, then... just use

kah

when you have it up? Do that before you reach the fight maybe. (obviously: save before.)
I did save. Then reloaded. It happened every time. The issue is while the console works, it’s a software keyboard and I can’t hit the tilde fast enough so I’ve got to load a mod that will do it. I originally followed another work around plan that turned out to require joining a faction in the wrong way, and it said to do a bunch of quests first, so that save was like 30 levels ago. I need the name of the mod in question because the creation club is such a piece of garbage that without the name I’ll basically never find it if it is even there. It might be nexus only. A lot of mods are. It’s a known and even famous bug, but Bethesda only fixes stuff related to micro-transactions because all they are actually interested in is the money path, so it will never be fixed no matter how many “ updates” they do.
I'm not sure there is a "wrong way" to join a faction beyond putting yourself into it via console commands.

They should always only be a very, very last resort.

This isn't a bug that they can fix - because it does not happen consistently to everyone playing the game, and your PARTICULAR issue is that you're also using 3rd party interference and preventing yourself the ability to fix it on the fly.

There is a wrong way if you want to do a particular thing. The particular thing I want to do is the “best ending” where one actually joins the minutemen, but unlocks molecular level with the railroad, and then does the BOS bit ( which this is locking me out of) which eventually leaves everyone but the institute alive and willing to talk with you. One can search “ best ending fallout 4” for the particulars.

After I do the arc jet stuff with Vance I’m associated so I can do it but I can’t get past this one check.

You seem to be saying “dump 3 solid weeks of gameplay and start over” again. except that I’ve already done that 3 times because of the happy fun games being played by some company with the creation club microtransactions that amount to ransomware.
The trick to avoiding it seems to be don't do ANYTHING that isn’t vanilla. If a mob has a handmade shotgun on it’s corpse don’t even loot it, ignore dogs, don’t EVER dare equip the backpack, dont enter or loot or equip or recruit ANY of the additional content they stuff unbidden into your game. You can’t remove them , but you CAN ignore them. If you use any of them, even by accident, They’ll just take it away again and break your game unless you pay them money. I’ve seen “this game relies on [X] mod that you do not have access to” maybe 20 or 30 times. If you don’t use them you can just load without them and the game keeps going. Some marketing weasel needs to be kicked in the crotch repeatedly.

I’m about an inch from rage-quitting the whole thing. I just want to try the mod.
Doing an "everyone wins!" run is not, in any way, actually functional.

You can play all the sides against one another *indefinitely* if you never actually do the Mass Fusion event.

That's basically the 'all happy end' as far as I know.

You keep going on about how terrible Bethesda is, but frankly since YOU do not have a computer that's capable of playing the game ON PC properly, through Steam, rather than via a 3rd party UNSUPPORTED device, that's still on you.

Wait until you have a real computer. Play it on PC like you are meant to - if you want mods there are tens and tens of thousands of them FOR pc. But 'geforce Now' is not pc. It's someone else's pc. One which is not supported nor properly suited to this game. it's not bethesda's fault that your computer is not working, man. You OWN the game on steam.

You can and should play it when you have access to a properly functional rig. But until then, you are, actually, 'stuck' with things that are by all rights sub-par. The Bethesda shop is garbage. This has always been known. They can't make it any better, they cannot compete with Nexus, and many people won't even want to put their stuff ON bethesda's site - and can't, because of legality issues. But your problems with the game itself stem *directly* from not playing it on a viable computer.

My current computer is a water cooled desktop. It’s got a mortar max b660 motherboard, an Intel 12700 (non K) cpu with a merc 7900xtx gpu, a piKVM, a 4k m32U 32” monitor, and 32gb of ddr4. The computer is in pieces as I am rebuilding the water cooling though, so I’m playing on my iPad using geforce now. It’s not the newest or the biggest machine, but it should do the job. There are new gaming machines being sold now that are not as strong.

My inability to be able to finish a run, even after months and continuing to have to restart I lay at the feet of the person using abhorrent tactics to try to make me pay again for something I already own.
I am not sure whether it is Bethesda or Nvidia doing it. Both have somewhat stunning reputations for evil behavior so I wouldn’t put it past either of them.

I get the impression you do not know the answer to the question I asked and just want to berate me
You have never had to pay for anything more than once, you own the game ON STEAM.

you will ALWAYS own the game ON STEAM. It can be put on ANY computer capable of running it from your account. It's account based.

Why do you think you have to "pay more than once" or "again and again"? What are you even trying to buy? This assumption is yet again on you - the little line symbol next to your Steam name here in the forum says you own this game. I don't know whether you own the GOTY / AE updated edition or what, but like. You don't have to buy ANYTHING further. The 'ae bundle' was nonsense and unneeded CC garbage. GOTY included the season pass dlc which is required for most nexus and bethesda-supported mods. That's one purchase total.

If you want to buy something on bethesda's site that requires their coin, that is still 100% voluntary. no one NEEDS to pay for anything on their system.

"The computer is in pieces as I am rebuilding the water cooling though, so I’m playing on my iPad using geforce now"

Okay so this is why you're actually having problems with the current game. It is NOT capable of being used that way, it's never been supported, Bethesda doesn't support either of those things.

When your COMPUTER is up and running, it will indeed be more than capable of playing this game properly. I'm not trying to berate you, man, you're doing this to yourself by trying to fit a VW engine into a Semi trailer and expecting it to pull 2 full loads.
I am still not completely sure that is true because I still think the real reason I am getting the third degree without an actual answer is that you do not actually know the answer and are attempting to hide it behind bluster.
I am in agreement with the first bit. Someone put a mod in my game without permission or ability to stop, and then stopped making it free so that game is now dead unless I buy it. I just kept getting the equivalent of pay us or start over. And we’ll keep doing it so if you want to play the game you have to do it without mods. Or build one without using the creation club at all. It has become clear to me that fallout4 using the creation club is not actually reallyworkable even though I did find a way past the abuse. It’s just too much bother. it claims to be workable, and should be. With the whole make mods useless without warning thing it is not.
If the bug fixing mod has to be added beforehand to work it’s near worthless. And so far as I can tell this is not a requirement. This has been implied by you but not actually stated because, I suspect, you not only have no knowledge of the name of the mod I am talking about, but even how it works.

The argument you are making applies equally to all consoles as well. So according to you the majority of people playing fallout shouldn’t. It seems reasonable that this is full of it.
Vance? It's Danse. Whatever next? Viper instead of Piper?

Anyway, maybe this is the mod you're after..

I had this bug happen once. Fixed itself after I killed Kellog and went to the airport. They told me to go to the Police Station. And everything worked normally from then on out.
