NPC Animation Loop
On my current save I´ve been playing for about 80 hours on 120 FPS without any issues -besides the odd crash. I left the game for a few weeks and came back to play yesterday, but I noticed that almost every NPC in the game will have their idle animations looped. For example; when they´re trying to sit down in a chair or on the ground the animation keeps cancelling itself and they immediately stand up, then try to sit down again. They never complete any animation, it´s always looped indefinitely - the same goes for cats trying to roll around on the floor, or Doctor Forsythe trying to take the blood sample. I´ve tried forcing the game to run on 60 FPS, which doesn´t appear to fix the issue. It hasn´t been a problem till now, but now it´s a thing for almost every single npc animation, and I´m afraid it will cause more quest issues down the line - such as when Forsythe couldn´t finish taking the blood sample. Has anyone encountered the same issue or know of a fix? ^^

I'd suggest first, WAIT FOR THE UPDATE tomorrow, and come back to the game after verifying the files and restarting steam. But cap your fps first and foremost, because that likely has given the game issues. Keeping the game at 60 for troubleshooting purposes is important. Your save file might also have baked-in weird.

You don't say whether you're using any mods including the cc that comes with the AE edition update. Since there will be an update to that system tomorrow this might affect your game even if we get it running properly today...
Thank you very much for the reply!
I have the Game of the Year Edition, but no mods installed outside of what would come with that edition of the game. I just installed that edition as it is and started playing.
I'll keep it capped at 60 FPS and see if that resolves it. So far it hasn't fixed it unfortunately, but I'll see what happens with the update, otherwise I'll try a brand new character with the 60 FPS cap from the start ^^
Seems weird, did this just start happening, you say it was 80 hours in, what exactly was happening in your game when you NOTICED it?

If you've overbuilt settlements, that might slow things down, but if you're in an interior that *shouldn't* affect the scripting speed.

Also did you try just verifying the files before now? I still kinda recommend waiting it out, but if the problem persists after that it might be some weird conflict somewhere.

also also, if your computer updated, drivers, OS, anything else, that MIGHT have issues. Windows 11 is notorious for introducing issues, and if you're on nvidia drivers those... are... garbage a lot of the time these days.
I didn't have any issues like that at all for the first 80 hours of gameplay. I noticed it because of the Doctor Forsythe quest, he didn't finish taking the blood sample, he'd just snap out of it, walk away, try again, teleport away, try again lol. After that I just noticed that every single NPC in every single area of the game cannot finish their everyday animations at all. Windows 11 did update between the last time I played and today, as did the NVIDIA drivers (Which I do have, yes). Or maybe the 80 hours of 120 FPS is just catching up with my save file :')
Also, yes, I did just try verifying the files before, which unfortunately didn't work either :/
Uggggh. :/

Have you tried googling the update KB and driver number updates with the addition of "bugs" or "gaming issue"? Sometimes that might dig around in reddit or other sources to find similar complaints.
I can't seem to find anything specific when doing that, no :/ I appreciate the help though, thank you very much! I'll see if anything has gone back to normal after the update, otherwise I'll probably just start a new character and see if things are back to normal that way. I didn't know of all of the "above 60 FPS issues" till I started reading about all of it yesterday, unfortunately xD
yeah the sad fact is that the engine itself is VERY tied to 60.

Which was double what the consoles got until NGU 3 years ago lol.
Hopefully it'll work then! Is it enough to use the FPS cap in the Nvidia settings, or should I also change something in the ini files? :)
