Once downloaded, go to the folder where the file was saved and drag it into the main game directory.

Also, don't forget to disable automatic updates in the game settings to prevent Steam from updating it back.

Does this update remove the paid mods from the free mods list or is that update no longer compatible with the free creations menu of old?
You may have the best of intentions and this may be totally benign so I feel bad for even saying this but it still needs to be said, in this day and age:

Do not trust downloads from strange places. If you do download this, sandbox it first and run it through virus total or something.

You can safely check it on steam DB.

I don't know. I'm playing with MO2 and downloaded mods from Nexus.
I'm just frustrated because automatic updates are turned off, I started the game through f4se on my mod loader, and the update still automatically started when I exited the game. Just going to have to undo the update when I can.
this worked thank you. the only thing is you said to move the folder to the game directory, you have to actually move the fallout4.exe file and replace the existing one in the main game directory

When you say "drag the file into the main game directory", do you mean the files in the "app_377160" folder, or did I botch the download somehow?
