I could never successfully make it spawn using the waiting method. I personally always had success eaiting for zoomaster and moving back and forth from and to the hoarfrost reach on the worldmap when it is a clear night.

From camp 7 go to the ice bridge nearby and check the mountain top. If it's there climb up and catch it if not teleport somewhere else until you get another clear night in the hoarfrost and try again. That way you never lose your zoomaster buff so long as you don't come back to a base.

It's still rng as hell but it's the method that's always worked for me.

yeah i'm doing that right now, but instead of going left after leaving the camp and going for the ice bridge, i'm going right and going for the the hot spring, i gave up on the waiting thing

Don't focus on just the spawn, become used to noticing weather patterns when doing other things and check when you can.

If you're going for 100% you could for example to rerolling for Felyne Treasures and stop to check the spawns when the time is right.

Work smarter and all that.
