Teostra's Sparks/Blast Powder being invisible. (Linux/CachyOS)
Have been getting back into playing and getting addicted at this game again, but when encountering Teostra, some of his attacks which use a blast powder are literally, am not joking, invisible. Certainly a visual bug and for anyone who does have linux experience, I have tried different proton versions, none could fix this very specific visual bug with this specific monster because it does not happen to every other monster in the game. If anyone has ever had this kind of problem if at all I would love to know because I have tried everything but switching distros when CachyOS has been mostly just perfect for me.

Haven't seen this before in any ProtonDB report.

Verify game files first

Try latest stable Proton (10) from Valve, not CachyOS, to rule out any CachyOS patches

Make sure you don't have some (outdated) mod files replacing the effect, like the .efx files from this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/63

Other than that, hard to say anything. CachyOS has many patches in the name of "performance", which could cause bugs/regressions not seen in other mainstream distros.
Thank you for responding, but man, I have already tried those fixes that usually work for other games for sure, but even the mods I tried them even if outdated just to see if anything could happen, but no it is still just missing. Posted my own report on ProtonDB a couple of minutes ago.

Again, to explain a bit more my situation, most of his attacks are completely fine as long as it is just the flame around his body, fire, and blast effects. the powder/sparks are what's missing, and okay, sure it is a minor visual bug, arguably worse if you do not have experience with Teostra and IF there is somehow someone with the same issue that I have using the same system, distro and drivers. Everything is updated, heck even made a fresh install of the whole distro and game. No change.

I could be the only guy having this issue somehow. That does seem likely.
Try asking on CachyOS channels, maybe you can find someone else with the game to test. And give them relevant info like hardware and versions of your graphics stack.
Will try, thanks very much.
Oh dude. I no longer think its a CachyOS-only issue, I just tried playing it on Linux Mint on my Laptop, first install of Linux on it too, and its the exact same issue, literally two different distros based each on a completely different distro all would have the same issue and somehow I have never seen anyone mention this, it may either have to do with proton because regardless of what version no matter how old it sure does not work, worst case the game itself, like this is by far the weirdest issue i have encountered on Linux somehow because nothing gives me an inch of a clue what is causing those effects to not appear.
Can confirm this same anomaly on Bazzite.

5800x3d / RTX 3070 / 16GB DDR4 3000
Can confirm this happens on my gaming laptop (RTX 3070 Razer Blade 2021) but not my main rig (with a RX 9070XT). Both are running Bazzite and the latest Proton IIRC. Will double check when I have access to my main rig again.

It could be a NVIDIA-specific issue with Linux since I have no issues on my AMD rig.

OP, are you running an NVIDIA card in your rig?

I have and NVIDIA RTX 5070 laptop and I'm on Debian 13. That happens to me too. It's weird
Well since this seems to be a new issue and 3 of you have Nvidia GPUs, I'd suggest trying an older Nvidia driver. Assuming the first report wasn't long after the regression, it should be somewhere in the 595.x range or 590.x. The last driver before the first post is 595.84 (2026-06-11).

List of LInux driver versions from Nvidia. Install from your distro, not here. Not all may be available in your distro, you may only have the choice of major versions like 590 or 595.
https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/

If you can confirm a regression, report it to Nvidia[download.nvidia.com].

edit: also test Dx11 and Dx12 modes of the game
