You know what I love?

POWER.

Real power.

Not some pathetic little pistol that goes pew pew while I hide behind a desk.

I'm talking about throwing people across rooms with my mind, launching objects through walls, floating through the air and generally making everyone around me question every decision that brought them here.

Now we're talking.

CONTROL is fantastic.

You play Jesse Faden, walking into the Federal Bureau of Control looking for answers...

And immediately discovering that the building has basically decided to become a nightmare.

Perfect.

The Oldest House is incredible.

Brutalist architecture.

Dark corridors.

Strange rooms.

Floating bodies.

Reality bending itself into shapes that should not exist.

And absolutely nobody seems to know what's going on.

Honestly?

I felt right at home.

The atmosphere is phenomenal.

Everything feels mysterious and slightly wrong. You never quite know what you're going to find around the next corner, and the deeper you go, the more bizarre everything becomes.

Then you get the powers.

Oh, the powers.

Telekinesis.

Pick up a chair.

Throw it at someone.

Pick up a desk.

Throw it at someone.

Pick up basically half the building...

Throw it at everyone.

Finally, a game that understands my preferred method of communication.

And the gun?

The Service Weapon is fantastic too.

But let's be honest.

Why shoot someone when you can simply rip a concrete wall out of the building and launch it directly at their face?

Exactly.

You're not just fighting enemies.

You're dominating them.

Floating through the air while throwing objects around and blasting enemies feels incredible.

And once you really start upgrading Jesse, the game becomes beautifully chaotic.

Enemies everywhere.

Explosions.

Debris flying through the air.

Powers going absolutely insane.

And me in the middle of it thinking:

"Is that all you've got?"

The story is strange too.

Very strange.

Government conspiracies.

Paranormal objects.

Alternate dimensions.

Reality itself behaving like it has completely lost its mind.

And somehow it all works.

That's what I respect about Control.

It isn't afraid to be weird.

It doesn't stop every five minutes to explain why something is weird.

It just looks you directly in the eyes and says:

"This is normal now."

Fine.

I'll play along.

The atmosphere, the combat, the visual design, the mystery and the supernatural abilities all come together beautifully.

And the Oldest House itself almost feels like a character.

It's constantly changing.

Rooms connect in strange ways.

Things move.

Reality shifts.

You never completely understand the place.

Which makes exploring it even better.

Control is stylish.

It's bizarre.

It's powerful.

It's mysterious.

And most importantly...

It's fun.

I came looking for answers.

I found a haunted government building, supernatural powers, flying furniture and enough paranormal insanity to keep me entertained for hours.

Fantastic game.

Fantastic atmosphere.

Fantastic combat.

And some of the most satisfying supernatural powers I've used in a game.

Control doesn't ask you to become powerful.

It gives you the power...

and lets you discover just how much fun it is to abuse it.

And honestly?

I was born for this.

remedy never disappoints.

6/10 — Fantastic ideas held back by frustrating game design.

Control has an incredible world, immaculate lore, a fascinating story, excellent atmosphere, and genuinely fun combat. Jesse’s powers are a blast to use, and the deeper I got into the story, the more invested I became in the Remedy universe.

Unfortunately, actually playing the game can become a chore. The map is awful, navigation is unnecessarily frustrating, and enemy respawns make backtracking and dying incredibly tedious. Dying often means spending another 10+ minutes either fighting or running past enemies in areas you already cleared just to get back to where you were.

By around Mission 5, I was already getting tired of the basic formula: clear a wave of Hiss, move forward, clear another wave, repeat. That’s a problem in a combat-heavy game, especially when the combat itself is actually good.

The final mission unfortunately doubles down on that repetition instead of delivering the climax the story deserved. Great ideas, disappointing execution.

I loved the world of Control far more than I loved navigating through it. 6/10.
