Jamestown
Game wont launch
When i try to start the game nothing happens. It just closes immediatly with no error message. I tried to download OpenAL but openal.com and creatives site doesnt appear to work anymore. I just get a message in all web browsers that says can not find www.openal.com. I did find oalinst.zip somewhere else but installing it did nothing. I did a redownload of jamestown and that didnt help either. Any ideas?

It seems i can launch the game outside of steam just fine clicking the executable but it will not run opening it from steam. I can connect to steam from inside the game. I also do not have access to the Gunpowder Plot DLC that i have for it.
You can copy the openal32.dll from any other steam game that use it into the jamestown folder. That fixed the not starting problem for me. No idea about the DLC though
it will not run for me as well, where can i get the openal32.dll file
I searched my steam folder in windows for openal32.dll and found quite a few of them from other games but none worked. Maybe the game is just broken for steam? Can anyone else launch it fine?
Same here...
what games have openal32.dll, does anyone know ?
Buy the game, but can't play.
Noice.
I just send final form games a support email. Hopefully will get an answer.
Great that the game is broken.
Even though I have to replay through everything I had (had a computer crash a few months ago had to buy a new computer)
It sucks that I cant play it now because of something.
I think this is Jamestown related and not steam.
Just search for and copy the file 'openAL32.dll' from any of your other Steam games and place it in the Jamestown folder. That'll fix it.

I already figured another way out I went into the Jamestown Steam Folder (with the launching program) and made a shortcut from there to my desktop. It wont launch from steam but it launches on its own though. Thanks for thelp
I get a message that says openal32.dll isn't on my computer but all my other games launch just fine. I can't find it anywhere in my other games, is there a specific folder I should look in? Also, I sent Final Form an email the other day and I still haven't heard back so...yeah.

As of today, we are now using Steam's built-in runtime redistributable system. This will, hopefully, resolve any issues people were having with the notorious missing OpenAL DLL. Our thanks to everyone who helped us track down and resolve this issue! :)

If you have any issues after the patch, please email us at support@finalformgames.com.
The patch today did help alot. I still cant get the game to launch inside of steam but I can run the exe from the folder and it runs just fine and I now have access to the DLC and it connects to steam right away when i run it. So only issue I have now is running from the steam games listing. I did do a reinstall and had the install put an icon on my desktop for the game and when i run it it does the launch and closes immediatly thing still. I notice the link points to steam://rungameid/94200. It seems if wont run from this link at all. I did delete the 2 .blob files in my steam directory to see if that would help but it didnt do anything. Also manually installed the redistributable packages just to be sure i had them. Not sure why it wont run from the steam link but atleast it runs from the exe just fine now.
It seems I have fixed my problem. I noticed that for some reason i had -autoconfig set in the launch options. After I removed that I can now launch the game just fine with steam :)
