Thank you for the kind words about my writing ^^ I’m French & English has always been a real challenge for me. I’m still learning to express myself more naturally & I’m lucky to have some close friends who are bilingual and help me improve. Honestly I’m really enjoying it! That’s also part of why I’ve been spending a bit more time on Steam lately, chatting with people from all over the world. I’ve always preferred conversations that go beyond small talk. I like getting to know how people think and what matters to them so that probably explains the long reply x)
& I completely agree with you about social media these days. I’m the same with YouTube though. I love documentaries! I’ve watched so many I’ve lost count. I love learning new things and really digging into a subject. I need something to keep my brain busy and challenge me beyond what I already know. Was not expecting such a long respond but hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts-reflections about your experience of Social Media and Steam. Personnaly = i am a digital ghost, no social media now or in the past at all, no traces of me, no pictures, etc. Just here where i have a profile with a lot of contents on different subjects. Social media are bad at many levels = glad i am old enough that it was not available when i was young... Did fall into that trap in some ways = very often on Youtube watching documentaries and i dont read books anymore... You express yourself very well btw = good quality of writing :)

What I love most about Steam is that people from all over the world can meet here through a shared love of games. We come from different countries and backgrounds, but we have this one passion in common. When you think about it, that’s a beautiful thing. I’m happy to have my own little corner here. <3

Steam is my little escape now. I’ve spent years sharing designs screenshots and gaming content here, and that’s how I’ve made a lot of these connections, much like I did through my blogs. So there’s more to it than my profile picture or the fact that I’m a woman 🙂 I know plenty of guys here with much bigger friend lists and far more comments than I get. I’ve loved gaming since I was a kid, especially challenging, competitive games where you have to earn your progress. I love pushing myself and working out how to improve. Right now, I’m working on Astralia.gg, a big project that brings together my love of gaming, design, web development and figuring out how to optimise the way I play and get stronger in-game. I’ve put months and months of work into it almost a year with more sleepless nights than I can count and I can’t wait to finally share it.

Eventually all that attention became too much for me. After back surgery I closed my photography business and stepped away from social media over ten years ago.
& seeing how social media has changed I won’t be going back to Instagram or Facebook. I stay well away from all that now. Back then, it felt like we were creating from the heart, simply because we loved it. These days, so much of it feels staged. I know people who care about the numbers even when those numbers are fake & I just don’t get it.
Even when I was younger, likes, shares follower counts never meant much to me. I wanted to make things I cared about and share what I loved doing. I still do. Copying someone else or following a trend just to gain followers has never been my thing

Honestly Steam feels pretty quiet to me compared to what I experienced years ago 😅I started blogging back in the early days of social media sharing my designs and lifestyle photography.I also started my own photography business which did really well. My blogs had millions of views and I had tens of thousands of friend requests

I watch other profile at times stumble on yours = ``over a hundred friends request`` Holy crap! I did know that female gamers here were more in demand but to that extend... I suposse also that mathematicaly speaking a large numbers of contacts attracts even more contacts :) Good devotion at managing all the demands = the price of popularity!
