There was a time, around 2020, when this game didn’t feel like a game at all.
It felt like a place. Loading in and immediately hear voices everywhere, people laughing, arguing, meeting for the first time like it actually meant something.

Every room in this game felt alive, vibrant almost.

I still remember random nights that turned into hours without noticing.
Playing quests with people I’d never met in person, somehow working together like we had known each other like a classmate at school/college.
Dumb jokes that shouldn’t have been funny, but were.
Late-night hangouts where we'd dared each other to do pranks, trolling people, everything.

It wasn’t polished, it wasn’t perfect, that should be pretty obvious—but it didn’t need to be.

The people in Rec Room made it feel real.

Now when I think back on it, it’s not even about the gameplay. It’s about how full everything felt. Like logging in meant you were about to be part of something, even if you didn’t know what yet. But now, ever since the announcement for the shut-down, the player base has been withering away slowly. The only people that I typically run into now are grifters trying to ruin the game more, or other players just sitting in one place, reminiscing all the crazy events and other stuff with others in the Rec Center.


It’s strange how something so simple can stick to one like that, similar to an echo you can’t quite place but never really lose.

With nothing else left to say, I only have this saying that's been passed around the community.
