If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

| What's new at PhoenixFireDesigns.etsy.com! |
[16 Sep 2011|03:47pm] |
Well, first off, after spending the ENTIRE summer on medications trying to get myself safe enough for surgery, looks like my hysterectomy will be on October 5th.
For those who've missed the updates, I'm 34 and over Memorial Day weekend, I went into the ER in massive pain, only to discover my uterus is full of tumors. Literally pounds of them. So much in fact, I was unsafe for surgery. I have over $10,000 in hospital bills and trying to raise the final $600 I need for surgery. (Of a total of $2,600 total.)
I've been on UNPAID medical leave this whole time (my last paycheck was June 3rd) so trying to pay my regular bills has been a challenge, let alone raising EXTRA money for surgery.
So here's a look at what's new in my shop. Sales help me with living expenses, medical bills and surgery costs. All the info can be found here.
Even if you can't buy something, just passing on the link in your twitter, facebook, blog, etc. is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your support!

| Medical Fundraising for Needed Surgery |
[09 Jun 2011|12:45pm] |
You can follow the progress of visits, current health, etc on my blog with my hysterectomy tag but this is just a summary of the situation. The full details can also be found here: http://giveneyestosee.com/blog/hysterectomy/
Memorial Day Weekend I went into the ER after two days of non-stop severe pain. Many tests and an overnight stay later, it turns out that my uterus is full of tumors.I have multiple softball and multiple baseball sized fibroid tumors and equally large cysts. The total mass is approximately the size of a basketball.
I was on a fast-track for a hysterectomy when my OB/GYN discovered that it was worse then initially believed and I'm too high risk for surgery. High risk is 250 grams of tumors. I'm at over 1,200 grams. I am now on a shot to induce medical menopause in order to attempt to shrink the tumors prior to surgery. The larger the tumors, the more complicated and lengthy the surgery, the more time I will be under anesthesia, the more complications and blood transfusions I will need. So we're trying to get them shrunk at least half.
I work a part-time job that does NOT give me insurance. I also do NOT get paid for any time off period. So I’m already out two weeks of pay with many more to come. (When I do have surgery, I'll be out 4 weeks in unpaid recovery as well.) I have already applied for and been denied financial and medical assistance by the state. I’m asking anyone who can help for your support as a result.
I need a total of $2,600 just to pay my OB/GYN, $1,400 of which must be up front before the surgery. This does NOT include the hospital, anesthesiologist, radiology, etc. It also does NOT include the fees for the office visits and tests pre-op. (I’ve already spend $463 on those as of June 7th)
I have set up a Donation Fund here: http://tiny.cc/hysterectomy
I am also trying to promote my own store front as replacement income during this period: http://PhoenixFireDesigns.etsy.com/
My friends are also helping me set up a second shop full of donated items. You can find that here: http://PhoenixFunds.etsy.com/

If you could look around and see if there's something you'd like to buy, pass on my links, donate a hand crafted item, craft supplies or a vintage item for the fundraiser shop or make a donation - any of it would be helpful and appreciated. The more people pass on my information, links and story, the more I can hopefully raise the funds I need.
Thank you for your support!

| Stunning micro faceted citrine tree of life pendant |
[23 Feb 2011|02:37pm] |
I was able recently to purchase some absolutely stunning AAA-grade, micro faceted rondelle citrine gemstones. This citrine is shaded in a lovely range of colors from clear, through a champagne tone, into a dark, amber honey shade. It’s clear, flawless and sparkles like crazy. I can't say enough about how lovely these gems are! Grin Using sterling silver wire, I took these gorgeous gems and made the most amazing Tree of Life pendant.

Citrine is a semi-precious stone in the quartz family. Citrine has been called the "stone of the mind" and is known as the lucky "Merchants Stone". It's said to bring luck to those in sales by placing a piece in the cash drawer. Citrine is also used as an alternative to the November birthstone, Yellow Topaz, due to it's similar color. The pendant is approximately 1.5" by 1.25" in width making it a lovely size.
I love when I can work with super luxe stones. In my budget it doesn't happen often enough so it's always so exciting for a bead-hound like myself. It's available for purchase HERE.
As always, custom orders also available as well!

| Personalized Sterling Silver Pendant - A perfect gift for under $25! |
[03 Dec 2010|12:01pm] |
A bird's nest has a lot of symbolic meaning including protection of the young and nurturing new generation and life. A nest is a home and a shelter and a Mother bird dedicates herself to the protection of her precious eggs. This process is celebrated in this piece.
Sterling silver plated wire that is treated to prevent tarnishing is woven to form the nest shape and glass pearls in your choice of color(s) are nestled safely within.
 Available for purchase here!
You can choose between 2 and 4 pearl colors in any combination you would like. The first example shows April, May and August and represents my sister, myself and my Mom. The second is a customer's selection and features March, April, October and December.
Ideas for choice? Children's birthstones, grandkids, siblings, parents, friends - any combination that is special to you. Would even make a remembrance or memorial piece for loved ones who have passed.
Plus, your order ships for only $1 in the US!
*Please Note: As glass pearls are completely man-man, they are 100% vegetarian/vegan friendly and a great alternative for those who prefer cruelty-free jewelry options.
Bird Nest Birthstone Pendants HERE and Tree of Life Pendants, Earrings, Bracelets and more also available in the storefront!

"In one of their first arguments to the court, the defendants said that certain “traditional” faiths are first tier faiths and that those faiths were meant to have equal rights and protections under the United States Constitution, but that all of the other faiths were second tier faiths, and were not meant to have the same equal rights and protections under the United States Constitution as the first tier faiths.”

| intro... |
[18 Nov 2006|01:01am] |
i guess i should probably do this at some point. i joined this community a few days ago, and am really looking forward to being a part of it. i'm not sure that i'll have all that much to contribute to begin with, as i am just beginning my journey. i've always considered myself an atheist or an agnostic. my husband is a buddhist, and i've done a lot of reading and research on various relions and spiritual beliefs, only to find that none of them "fit" me. however, this is different...from the moment that i stepped into this realm (pagan & wiccan), i've felt at "home". i'm still very much a beginner, and i'm still trying to find my specific path, but i do feel that i am finally pointed towards the direction of the paths that are meant for me. and it feels good - really good.
anyway, my name is kym, but for all intents and purposes, please refer to me as "datura". i'm 32, married, have a 13 year old son and 8 indoor cats. we recently just moved back to northwest ohio from michigan to care for my elderly parents. currently, i am just beginning to study the very basics. i've picked up several books, visited a spiritual "variety" store not too far from here (where i've collected quite a few items to aid in my study), and i've also signed up online with magicka shool, tarot college, witch school, and the pagan college. i'm not certain as to the quality of any of these, but i figure they will at least give me a general base from which to start.
i guess that's it for now. i just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself. i'm sorry if you see this cross-posted to some different communities - i've joined a lot as of late, and i'm not feeling up to writing a seperate intro for each one.
i'm really looking forward to being in this community, learning from all of you, and hopefully making some new friends that take me seriously throughout this learning process. if you have any questions for me, ask away - i'm pretty much an open book.
i hope this finds everyone well.

Well met, I just found this community, and I'd like to "meet", if even virtually, fellow witches/mages...magical practitioners. I have a wealth of knowledge, and a vast number of questions....Is this the place? The solstice came and went....it's now nigh on september...the next Celebration is, of course, Samhain! Yay! Any recipes? Any celebrations? Any ideas? I'd love to see what traditions are like around the world...and maybe localize a celebration (I'm moving to the Tacoma, wa area).. to introduce myself a bit: I'm a student, and working on my little shop to create and sell wares and lotions. I have been "out of practice" for a long while, and I feel the call of magic these days... what are some of the highlights of this community? Any suggestions for the newbie? *curtsy* Be Blessed

Hey everyone! I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm 20, female, and I live in New Zealand. My beliefs are an amalgam of Trad. Witch beliefs and Wiccan beliefs. Not enough of these beliefs are solely Wiccan for me to call myself Wiccan, so despite my belief in, and love of, the Lord and Lady, I just call myself a Witch.
I'm Solitary, and although I'd like to have more witchy friends, I don't really work well with others as far as rituals go. I suppose i just haven't had the opportunity to interact with other people's energies enough.
At the moment I'm studying Shamanism (and I adore it!). After I've temporarily quenched my thirst for Shamanic information and skills, I'll look into Druidism.

| Brainstorming for Potential Wicca Manuscript |
[13 May 2006|04:46pm] |
Greetings!
I am currently working on some ideas for a Wicca "how-to" manuscript on Career related practices, prayers, and magic. I would love to test the idea with some folks......I've done some market due diligence and there isn't really one volume devoted entirely to the idea. However, I don't know if this is because there is limited appeal or because it just hasn't been done (I know there have been similar books, E.G. Silver Ravenwolf's Spells for Abdundance.....)
So I have two questions:
1. Would you purchase a book on this broad topic for your library? 2. What sub-sections/issues/topics would you like to see covered?
Thank you in advance for any thoughts you might have on this.
Rose
