"Who is like Your national Israel?" Samuel II 7:23
"Open my eyes, so that I will see wonders from your Torah." Psalm 119:18
This journal is primarily concerned with my exploration of traditional Judaism and search of HaShem, inspiration and a life filled with meaning and purpose. That's not too much to ask for right?
I'm a creative spirit, passionate about writing, art, fashion and design. I am on a continual mission to find beauty in the world and to share it with others. My username derives from my belief in an everlasting wonder that touches people of all creeds and colours and causes them to rejoice in the world and its infinite possibilities. I'm an eternal optimist (with a sarcastic sense of humour).
I am also an animal lover and certified Crazy Cat Lady. After spending four years as an on-again-off-again vegetarian, I am now trying to become a responsible meat consumer. I am particularly inspired by the teachings of Rav Kook, who only ate meat on the Sabbath. I am also interested in the works of rabbis Jonathan Sacks, Avi Weiss, Shmuley Boteach, Nachman of Breslov and the Baal Shem Tov.
In spite of my delving in traditional Judaism, I remain a political secularist, liberal, pro-choice, feminist and straight-not-narrow LGBT ally. I'm a bit of political junkie, especially pertaining to Israel, where I lived for almost two years. I'm also a history buff, especially concerning Ancient Israel, the Holocaust and Nazi Germany. I'm an entrepreneurial type and always seem to have a bajillion projects going on. I consider myself an idealist and care strongly about marriage equality, ethical farming and supporting local business, among various other causes.
What can I tell you? I guess I'm a strange cookie.
My entries are a mix of public, private and friends only. I would love to read about other people's journeys in traditional Judaism and will happily reciprocate friending unless you're really creepy or we don't have similar interests. Anyway, don't be shy!
Be'ahavat Yisrael!
