Transforming lives with videogames, our unique museum is where anyone from every background can play, explore and create videogames.

Our work also extends beyond the screens working with local communities and partner with inspiring organisations to create innovative and inclusive ways to engage diverse audiences, providing access to videogame technology and inspiring people to make games building their confidence and skillset.

Behind The Screens

Behind the Screens is supported by the BFI Screen Heritage Fund. It aims to transform how UK videogame heritage is collected and understood.

Image Empire

Image Empire is a new digital artwork by Dr. Alan Warburton exploring the topic of AI, image-making, and the future of work, which has been designed specifically for a LinkedIn audience.

Playing With Power

The ‘Playing With Power’ project explores what happens when you shine a light on the stories from Sheffield’s sanctuary-seeking community and re-imagine them as a videogame.

Play the City

If you could design a videogame level for the city of Sheffield, what would you create? The NVM is running free game design workshops as a part of our ‘Play the City’ project, supported by BBC’s Children in Need.

Level Up

The ‘Level Up’ project aims aim is to engage communities from across the region through local representatives, pop-up exhibitions and other activities.

Learn & Play with Physics

In collaboration with University of Sheffield and CERN, the project has included a physics exhibit, half term activities and an upcoming workshop.

The Next Level

The Next Level Project was a free course provided by the National Videogame Museum to enable women of colour aged between 18-25 to get into creating videogames.
