Pattaya, April 1st, 2026 – A 41-year-old man driving a black BMW sedan lost control of his vehicle early this morning, veering onto the central median and smashing into a large and fairly new electronic advertising billboard at the Pattaya motorway exit, causing significant damage to the car and the sign.
The incident occurred at approximately 00:20 on April 1st, 2026, at the motorway exit intersection in the Nong Prue sub-district. Pattaya City Police were notified of the single-vehicle accident and immediately coordinated with rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, rescuers and The Pattaya News team found the black BMW Series with Bangkok registration plates had mounted the central median and collided violently with the large electronic billboard. The front of the vehicle was severely damaged, with the car partially embedded underneath the billboard structure. Debris from the car was scattered across the area.
The driver, identified by police as Mr. Surawut Iam-arunthai, 41, had sustained only minor injuries. Rescue personnel provided first aid at the scene.

While officials were still assisting the driver, a friend of the injured man arrived in another vehicle and took him away, claiming he would transport him to the hospital himself. This occurred before the investigating police officers had arrived at the scene, leaving rescue volunteers and onlookers surprised and confused by the sudden departure.
A 19-year-old food delivery worker, Ms. Patthamon Phanthon, who was at the intersection waiting at a red traffic light, witnessed the crash. She stated that she saw the black sedan speeding down from the motorway, lose control, and slam into the central median and billboard. She noted that the traffic light on the opposite side was about to turn green, and if the BMW had been traveling slightly slower or the timing had differed, it could have plowed into vehicles stopped at the light.

Pattaya police will now review nearby CCTV footage and collect additional evidence to determine the exact cause of the accident, including possible factors such as speeding or driver distraction. No further details on charges or the driver’s condition have been released at this time.
