Over these past few days, I have been reading all of the posts on here. I can't believe I didn't find out about this community until just now! I'm so sad too, since...well. There were 188 posts in April and 252 posts in May. November's almost over and this is our eighth post for the month. D= I missed all the good months! I hope the lack of activity's due to everyone being too busy with watching the new MTR DVD. xD; Because I really don't want this community to die, and not just because I just joined. After all, Meet the Robinsons is too good of a movie to not have an amazing fanbase! =x

So I thus present a bit of a discussion. My apologies if these have already been discussed to death, as I haven't got through all of the posts yet...

1) Petunia. What's with her? I just read a really good fanfiction about how Petunia was a real person who died in labor. A very depressed Fritz then created a puppet of her and kept her with him at all times. While it was such a tragic story, I don't know if I'd interpret it that way...I mean, it seems to me like Petunia has her own mind. Heh, that's what I deduced from the "Get up, you pansy!" and "Don't you 'sweetie' me!" and then Fritz's exasperated sigh. I love those two. <3
Anyways, what do you guys think?

2) "Spike and Dimitri are twins, and I still don't know who they're related to..." "Neither do we." Another interesting pair. Any theories about how they came to reside with the Robinsons?
And are they actually just crazy men in pots or some bizzare kind of plant? They wear shirts, but I dunno...They don't even eat dinner with the rest of the family, and they do insult the other with "Evergreen" and "Short roots."

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it? Nonetheless, I do want to breathe some life in here. Why, oh why, couldn't I have discovered this earlier? ><;

After a very long time, it's another MTR-random post.

- so, I finally picked up the DVD this weekend, and only got to see the movie in commentary, until the end credits...
yeah, I need to get back to it... In my own time...

- But the thing I've always been waiting to do on the DVD is the zoom feature.
There's many parts in the movie that I want to just freeze-frame and examine, even zoom in.

Thanks to the magic of DVD, we can now pause the movie, and using the 'zoom' button, you can go into a scene.
yup, There's a zoom button on your DVD remote.
or at least on most controllers...

There's several thing I want to look into, like examine every Lewis notebook page and all the scribbles, the contract in the end, and hell, even that juice box on the edge of the table.
The nutritional facts side is facing the camera, and just BEGS to be read.

I know I won't be able to get to see this myself, so I invite all of the community to try it themselves and get a kick of the amount of detail put into this film...

- Can't help but notice the heaps of unsold MTR DVD's out there, like in Costco and most recently Borders.
why, Even "Surf's Up" (which i also love) seems to be doing fairly well, despite it doing worse than MTR in the theaters.

so, Disney now seems to be pulling in all the stops to market the film. A while back, 'round when MTR released, I suggested that MTR could have been advertised for the several holidays conveniently placed around that time-frame.
Disney didn't

Today at Borders, on the cardboard-cutout DVD holder/display for MTR, it proclaims "A Great Halloween Gift!"
now, Really? "A Great Halloween Gift"?
What's soo Halloween about MTR?
I could understand my suggestion of marketing MTR during the Easter weekend back several months ago, 'cause it's a good film to bring in the family with, and has a major family tone.
Labeling it with a "Halloween Friendly" pumpkin patch (pun not intended) on the display just seems desperate to me...

and really, Who gives "gifts" to others on Halloween?

-Back when MTR released, I was a bit disturbed by the review on the San Francisco Chronicle.
Now that it's on DVD, here's the mini-snippet they placed for the "Current DVD Releases" page of the Friday paper:
"Meet The Robinsons
(the chronicle's 'applauding man' rating scale was in the middle, or the 'good' rating. this is below the 'very good' and 'excellent' rating. 'good' icon has the applauding man just sitting in his seat, not sleeping-bad, or applauding-very good)
This frenetically paced but mostly pointless Disney computer-animated film will satisfy children but give most parents a headache - even if they don't put on the 3-D glasses. An orphan's science project creates a lot of "Back to the Future"-style trouble as he travels through time. The movie is entertaining but also a bit depressing, with confusing plot points and themes of parental abandonment that are never properly resolved.
Rated G. 104 minutes - P. Hartlaub"

now, I do not at all suggest to you to contact the San Francisco's Chronicle's Peter Hartlaub about this review. Never. It was about 6 months ago, and I don't recommend anyone contacting the main hotline at 415-777-1111, nor do I wish you to write them at The San Francisco Chronicle, 901 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94103, namely, Readers' Representative, c/o San Francisco Chronicle, 901 Mission St., SF, CA 94103.
And you shouldn't even bother contacting the reader's representative Dick Rogers at 415-777-7870, readerrep@sfchronicle.com, or fax to 415-536-3030.
I would never condone such behavior.

in all seriousness, A good thing I didn't post the full review.
I can just go on about Mr. Hartlaub's review, but it's getting late on my coast, and sadly I was planning out a whole thing for it. It could have been it's own, individual post.

alas, I'll just let you, the community, discuss about it in disagreement.

well, That's all for now! Hope I got you some fun things to do (dvd freeze frames), or just something to bicker about (advertisement, sf chron review)...
Good night and Keep Moving Forward!

...A bit-while back, I was at Disneyland, more specifically, at Honey I Shrunk The Audience..
Old and outdated, but still running great and still freaking out a certain some..

anywho, While in the queue, there was one, random thought in my mind:

Cornelius should get the Inventor of the Year award..

say, that's not a bad idea for a replacement..

i mean, Wayne Szalinski won it, and Professor Philip Brainard (flubber, robin williams) as said in the queue (I think)..
Why not Cornelius?

hmm, and a little more random: were there any other disney inventors in the past?

back to that replacement idea, What do you think about a MTR Ride?
not sure if we ever got on this topic before in the community.. I know we ventured into other ideas, and I think the IMDB boards got that topic started (by me, i belive), but I don't think here in the community yet..

Would we follow Wilbur, Lewis, and/or Cornelius? Or will it even be a show/ride?

I think one of my ideas was a ride in a Time Machine though the entire MTR story, much like how the Monsters Inc. ride in California Adventure does the same thing.. In a taxi cab..
But the difference in my idea is that it will use the 'Enclosed-Peter-Pan-Ride-On-Steroids' system that the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Attraction in Tokyo DisneySea uses..
problem is, 20k leagues was set in the dark, darker than peter pan, and most of mtr is very bright and sunny.. harder to hide the overhead track..

So my new idea now is maybe a 3D show to replace Honey I Shrunk The Audience, which is quite fitting being that the attraction is at every Tomorrowland other than Walt Disney World and Hong Kong, and I guess it could fit into the Imagination Pavilion..

though, Not too sure on how the show should go..

COMMUNITY DISCUSSION!

anywho, As of now, MTR has been released in 40 countries (looks at imdb: hey, the uk had an imax version? where was ours?), and currently has a worldwide total of $152,157,113!

yay!

4 more countries to go!

EDIT: heh, Here's some random fun from IMDB: The international MTR Movie Titles!!!

ah, I had another thing I wanted to add, but I forgot it now.. ah well.. 4am.. head not-all-there..

you know what? Another Wilbur-Hair spotting!
AURGH! I must try this on myself!

This was over here at the PlayStation Store in San Francisco during an event..

though, The past two sightings, this included, were rather short, and didn't seem as tall as Wilbur's pointy-do..

-must find gel-

And here's the question of the week:
We all know that Cornelius woke up in the middle of the night and decided to make a time machine..

I was just wondering recently: What the hell was he dreaming about that got him to think about that?

the wonders of cornelius..

-thinks it over again- well, Maybe the thought of his mother came up again.. i dunno..

It was just something that came to my mind really out of nowhere and randomly..

I can imagine all of Cornelius' inventions were first thought up in a rather strange and instant way..

finally, I've been planning to dress up as Wilbur when I next go to Disneyland, but the problem is, I totally forgot about that, and I'm leaving tomorrow for a quick visit down there on Sunday..
I'll do my usual Stitch-dress-up (see above icon) due to short notice, but I'm planning out for another visit closer to the MTR release date, which would probably be April..
That's time for me to find the right gel.. and finally get that wilbur/capt. time travel shirt right..

'k Then: Off to the parks I go!
Shame I'm not gonna go to the Emeryville showing of Ratatouille (you know, the home of pixar here in the bay area), but I just might make it to the Annual Passholder screening at the El Capitan!
But I think it's even more of a shame that the MTR trio won't be at my visit to the parks.. -sigh-

ok, Gotta finish packin' up for this last-minute trip! Hope to get back to all your comments at the hotel!

Ok, first random thought:

so, I was looking at some screencaps, and I noticed something: Wilbur is curvy..

Besides his hair, his entire body is made of, like a slightly curvy line..
Almost making him seem like a 2D figure, but in 3D space..

For example, you can see here with Wilbur that when leaning forward, his body consists of 2 long lines making a "C"-like shape..

And in this shot
, his front consists of a long, backwards "S" like line, and his back a slightly curved line..

-keeps looking at screencaps-

ah! Darn you crazy-fangirl-community for rubbing off your Wilbur-love on me! DARN YOU!

-shifty eyes-

Second random thought:
What's up with the future?

ok, let me re-phrase that..

Remember in 2007 (then again, it didn't mention when this took place), our un-named, generic city was full gritty, boring brick buildings..
Run 30 years forward to 2037 (then again, we didn't know that this was 2037.. or even 30 years ahead) and the city has grown smaller to futuristic buildings, surrounded by a nice river and an empty, hilly-green landscape that looks like a Windows XP wallpaper..

What the heck happened to all those old brick buildings?
Apparently, some still remained, waiting to be demolished as we saw with BHG/Goob (OMG, SPOILER ALERT!!!1) living in the old orphangage, but what happened?

Cornelius worked his magic with all these insta-buildings and moved the people from those 2007 buildings to those, and completely removed the outer-lying area with green hills that don't seem to have anything else around them?

And what's up with that river? Has that always been there, or a result of global warming?

It just recently kinda irked me that the city seemed to have moved backwards where there wasn't much buildings around the outer-lying area..

-thinks- How will future-San-Francisco look like?
The place has always been hill-y.. Will we wipe the houses there, make towering.. Towers.. in the heart of the city, and make the hills as green-as-can-be?

Cornelius must have been very smart.. a-and worked for the government for urban-planning..

OH-KAY, that's all I got today..

Stay tuned for more 'MTR on YouTube', 'MTR on Flickr', and coming soon, 'MTR on DeviantArt'..
i know some of you are frequent there, But I just want to share some hand-picked MTR art from the site, some that are probably hard to find with the usual keywords..

anyways, Good night.. Been sleeping from 2AM-2PM, and that's a bad habbit.. hah..

Just a quick update:

Went to a different Disney Store today and found that all MTR sticker rolls, antenna toppers, magic towels (as well as other toppers and towels) were 99 cents!

also, The blocky, posable figurines, as such as 'lil Wilbur in my icon, is now $1.99, or a buck 50 less than the original price..

So now, I finished my MTR antenna topper collection and I think I finished my magic towel collection..
now that i think of it, I shoulda' bought more MTR magic towels for more MTR magic-towel-pillows! AUGH!

Also finished my MTR blocky posable figurine with 'lil Wilbur and now 'lil Lewis..

Funny thing about 'lil Lewis is that he has a very strange look to his right side, and if you place 'lil Lewis and Wilbur together, it looks like it was something straight out of a slash-type's mind..
Pictures soon..

now, To finish my MTR plush collection and get the MTR RC Doris and Time Machines!

also cool: Instead of signing up again for the 15% off, I got a card during my purchase! YAHOO! Now to gather money for the the RCs!

ey everyone, Just got back from a LOOONG day yesterday, and it'll somewhat be maken up for with tonight's preview..

anyways, Let me set this new 'series' up:
Way back when, back in around April/May, actually, I was setting up to do a 'MTR on Flickr' story, where I'd give this VERY LONG post on an in-depth look at the world looking into Meet The Robinsons via pictures on Flickr.Com, a photo-sharing site..

so, I gathered a BUNCH of images in several tabs in my FireFox and Flock browsers..
unfortinately, I didn't save the links seperately, and my computer completely crashed (and has been since last night actually.. boy, i'm somewhat patient.. that's an average of 4-computer-restarts per-night, folks)

Now that I solved that problem (for now) and now that I have free time, I'm gonna try doing it again, but this time, do it in several posts in a series instead of a long one.. That would help by 1) Realy go in-depth with the photos and 2) It's better than doing it all in one sitting in one, long post..

plus, Another series just died, 'State-Of-The-MTR-Report'.. Mainly thanks to the fact that the film's not in big theaters anymore.. (which is a shame.. last i checked, mtr was at the 22nd spot, and was completely gone shortly after..)
don't worry, Until the film comes to home-entertainment, I'll ressurect the series (for dvd sales, blu-ray sales, heck, maybe even digital download sales and vhs sales.. uh, is there going to be digital download ie: itunes downloads and vhs versions?)..

until then, which is now a month longer-wait, This little series will take it's place..

(/exposition)

without further ado, I present MTR On Flickr: Part I

hey, I'm just gonna start of outta limb here, but any of you hear that classic Beatles song 'Mrs. Robinson' and somewhat think of like Franny?

'cause I just heard a cover version of the song and I was just laughing to myself "Hah, Mrs. Robinson.. Franny.. Hah.."

And Speaking of music, I just listened to the 'other' MTR soundtrack (didn't hear of it either? don't worry, only the people behind the film got it, but unless you got sources..) and noticed that a great deal of it are not in the on-sale soundtrack, which is a shame..
But what's also interesting is that there's some music in there that wasn't used..

Which only irks me on the possible 'deleted scenes' could wind up on the DVD, if any (which i'm supposing there are)..

ah.. -looks at igoogle homepage- Just 93 more days until the DVD!

(and mega-super-random-and-off-topic, but i just noticed some very good news that i must pass up to everyone else..
turns out they're trying to get some word-of-mouth on ratatouille, coming the end of this month, so they're making special early screenings, guess when.. yeah, tomorrow.. visit the official home page and check if your city is participating..now, why didn't they do this with mtr?)

That's all I got this usual-time, which is kinda sad, since I usually have more, and I just forgot many of them! oh well..
I'm still working on my list of MTR-stuff for this summer, so still look out for that (that includes stories, art, audio, and other suprises..)

until then, Keep movin' forward!
