This is a no elimination LIMS type icontest community

Welcome to

truebloodrumble

A "Rumble" icontest is similar to a LIMS, but instead of an icon maker getting voted off each week, you all get to stay and accumulate points for each challenge in the round. Whoever has the most points wins.

This rumble icontest community is based on

btvsats_rumble, which was inspired by

disney_rumble. Credit for the idea goes to

chimera_x. I love this type of icontest because it has a positive focus.

Please be advised that the challenges in this community may contain nudity and or curse words. This is True Blood after all.

SPOILER WARNING: Screencaps and any other images from Seasons 1, 2 and 3 will be used in the challenges for Round 4. However, new cast and episode screencaps less than one week old will not be used.

Anyone may be a member of the community and vote in the challenges.

To participate in the challenges, sign up for the round you are participating in and be a member of this community, so that you will see the reminders on your Friends List.

There will be 10 challenges in each Round.

The challenges will be based on the HBO TV show True Blood and the Southern Vampire series of novels by Charlaine Harris. This can be anything from actor, character, theme, text, screencap or episode challenges.

Most of the challenges are skill based and will require advanced photo editing techniques, including blending and use of textures.

Points are awarded for each challenge. (First place = 5, Second place = 4, Third place = 3, Special Category = 2)

Everytime you participate in a challenge you will receive 1 point, regardless of whether or not you placed.

If your icon is disqualified from any challenge you will still get 1 point for participating in the challenge.

You can receive 3 bonus points for promoting the community. This is a one time offer per round. (For more details, see the sign up entry.)

There will be four winners at the end of each round - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place. Winning is based on accumulation of points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the round wins.

You must enter an icon in Challenge 1 of any Round or you will be disqualified from the round.

After Challenge 1 it is fine to miss a challenge. However, you will be disqualified if you miss 3 challenges in a row.

After the winners are announced I will post an alternates entry. This entry will be for participants to post their non-winning icon for critique and any alternate icons you may have made for a challenge and get some opinions on if perhaps you should have posted one of them to the challenge instead. And critique if you want.

If you need to drop out for some reason, let me know by leaving a comment in the most recent entry or the sign up entry for the round in which you are participating.

The challenges in this community will require that you use advanced photo editing techniques. I encourage learning and improving your icon making skills during the challenges. If you are ever unsure of how to do a technique asked of you in one of the challenges please feel free to ask questions. I or one of the other community members can point you toward a tutorial or give a brief description of how the technique is achieved.

Please be prepared to take a little time to carefully read the rules for each challenge. If your icon does not adhere to the rules of the challenge by the time voting is posted it will not be included in voting and will be disqualified from that challenge.

THE FOLLOWING ARE REASONS WHY I MAY ASK YOU TO DO YOUR ICON OVER OR WHY YOUR ICON MAY BE DISQUALIFIED:
Base incorrectly prepared - too dark
Incorrect anti-alias (text)
Incorrect aspect ratio
Blurry image
The rules of the challenge were not followed
Your icon is not brand new and made specifically for the challenge in which it is entered
You post your icon somewhere before the winners of the challenge have been announced

First and most important - SIGN UP to enter the challenges.

PLEASE carefully read the rules for each challenge as they will be different from week to week.

You only need to submit 1 icon per challenge, unless otherwise stated.

Icons are due Monday evenings (NEW) at 8:00 PM CST (NEW).

You will have one week to get your icon made and submitted to the challenge entry.

Please DO NOT submit an old icon to a challenge.

Icons must be original for the challenge, of your own creation and your own cropping.

All Text must be of your own creation. Text textures or brushes are not allowed. Need an explanation

The only text brushes allowed are tiny unreadable text brushes used for decoration. (I should not be able to read the text if you used a brush.)

No Animation - Unless otherwise stated.

Please do not use or post your icon anywhere until the winners of each challenge have been announced or it will be disqualified from that challenge

Icons must fit LJ standards: no larger than 40kb in size and 100x100 pixels.

In order to be fair to the other challenge members all icons must follow the rules of the challenge for which the icon was made or be disqualified.

Please upload your icons to a reliable host that allows direct linking like Photobucket.

Icons made from Paparazzi photos or photo manipulations will be disqualified

Voting is weighed. Vote for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place icon in order of preference.

Voting is mandatory for all participants. This won't work very well unless everyone helps out with voting.

Please provide reasons for picking the icons you voted on. This is not mandatory, but highly encouraged.

Voting Comments will be unscreened once the winners of each challenge are announced. I will no longer be e-mailing comments to participants.

Please familiarize yourself with the schedule here and know when to vote. Voting will last 2 days.

You do not need to be a member of the community to vote. Anyone who has a LiveJournal can vote.

You will be voting for 3 Best Quality icons (in order of preference) and 1 icon that best fits the Special Category.

Please do NOT vote for yourself.

Invite your friends over to vote, but DO NOT tell them which icon is yours.

In the event of a tie, winners will receive points for the place they tied. (If 3 or more icons tie for a place there will be Tie Breaker Voting.)
