I'll Be Home for Christmas, Eventually

Title: I'll Be Home for Christmas, Eventually
Author: The Mermaid Queen
Pairing: Callie/Arizona
Rating: NC-17, because it's me and I can't help it.
Summary: Callie can't wait to come home from her conference to see her wife and daughter. Arizona and Sofia are counting the minutes. The weather has other ideas. Will Callie be home in time to make Christmas magic happen?

AN: itsjustme2628 asked for a fic taking place in the future with a happy and together Callie and Arizona. Callie has big plans with her family a few days before Christmas, but something happens and her plans get threatened. How will they have the holiday they've been dreaming of? (Sorry, I lost the exact wording of your prompt.) Takes place 4-5 years in the future, depending on how old Sofia actually is in canon. In my head, this either takes place in a universe where 11x05 didn't happen or far enough in the future that they've figured out how to be wonderful together. Super thanks to K for the beta. I hope you enjoy it, ItsJustMe2628! Happy New Year - sorry this took me so long!

Fic: (In) The Christmas Present

Title: (In) The Christmas Present
Author: Anna
Pairing: Callie/Arizona, mentions of Mark/Lexie
Rating: R for language
Summary: It's the first Christmas after the plane crash and Arizona is sure there's no such thing as holiday magic. When a surprise visitor shows her she might just be wrong about this one, she realizes how magical things still have the potential to be.

A/N: Big thanks to nerdfightergirl for the cheerleading and the super-fast beta!

Prompt: majincammy asked for "
Any rating. I’d actually like a Christmas-y fanfic where Arizona is greeted by Mark’s ghost in a dream and shown how her life would be crap based on her making different choices in her life (yes, A Christmas Carol, Grey’s Anatomy style, starring Arizona as Scrooge).” I hope I did the prompt some justice. Happy holidays! :)

"Oof. Would you move over? You're hogging the bed. Or, better yet, just get up."Collapse )

Undefeated 3/3

Title: Undefeated Part 3/3
Author: Anna
Pairing: Callie/Arizona, occasionally featuring other characters
Rating: NC-17 for a little smut
Summary: A series of drabbles ficlets exploring Arizona - and Callie - adjusting to a new reality. They started off angsty, but life keeps moving and so do they. Canon for the first half or so of season 9.
Disclaimer: All television shows, movies, books, and other copyrighted material referred to in this work, and the characters, settings, and events thereof, are properties of their respective owners. A/N: Holy crap, I don't even know where to start. When I posted part 2 a year ago, I honestly never intended to take a hiatus like this. I went through a long stretch of time where I wasn't writing anything at all, and then I slowly worked my way up to writing little bits at a time. My dry spell really had more to do with my own personal issues and insecurities than anything happening on the show, although there were of course some weeks when canon events knocked the wind out of my sails a little. Writing has become something with which I have a complicated relationship, and I think the best way to describe it is that we needed to see other people for a while. If you're reading this after all this time, thank you. It means a lot. And I hope this doesn't get lost in the shuffle of spoilers, interviews, and episode discussions! ;)

Some things to note about this story: it takes place in a universe where the cheating - and really, most of the second half of season 9 - never happened. It was canon at first, but, well, when you don't work on a fic for a year, this is what happens. ...I guess that's really the main thing to note! When I started, I had intended for this to be comprised of shorter drabbles, but when there came to be more story to tell, they got longer and longer, so now they're really ficlets more than anything. Because of that, and because there were so many things I wanted to explore, this update had to be divided in half (thanks, LJ!). This is the end of the story for now, but if people have requests for other moments they'd like to see, I will do my best to fill them. (If you have them, you can leave them in comments here, PM them to me, or send them to me on Tumblr.)

I also want to thank some people who have been nothing short of amazing in their help and support: strandedinaber, nerdfightergirl, emmer23, and lajanelle. You guys are seriously the best. This probably never would never have gotten finished without you, and your friendship has been and continues to be invaluable to me. I can't thank you enough.

Anyway, now that my author's note is about as long as a ficlet...onward!

Title: The Only Place You'll Wanna Be is Underneath My Christmas Tree
Author: Anna
Pairing: Callie/Arizona
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Written for foreverleyton for Secret Santa at callie_arizona. The prompt was: "I don't mind what you write, as long as it involves the holidays and our girls celebrating them. I'm not a huge fan of AU but it can be based in any of the past seasons, or the future. Light on the angst, please. NC-17 is always okay." I suppose there's maybe a plot if you look really hard for it, but really, it's just good old-fashioned Christmas smut with a side helping of fluffiness.

A/N: This is *gasp* unbeta'd. The title is a line from a Lady Gaga song (called, shockingly, "Christmas Tree"). Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy!

A/N: So, this kind of took on a life of its own and it will now be three parts instead of the originally-intended two. Yay! Huge, huge thanks to strandedinaber, nerdfightergirl, and T for all their help and encouragement. I couldn't have done this without any of you. And thank you, everyone for such an enthusiastic response to part one! I was so happy and humbled reading all of your positive words. <3

A/N: First of all, I have not forgotten about "Whatever You Can't Do." I just found myself really needing to process after the beginning of this season, so I started writing, and this took on a life of its own. There's a second set of these, which is about halfway done, and then I'll get back to what I was working on and what maybe one or two of you are still reading... Anyway, I hope you enjoy these in the meantime. I can't thankdonteatblueandstrandedinaberenough for their help on these. I honestly couldn't have done this without you ladies. The title is inspired by Jessica Capshaw's quote, "This is not a story of defeat."

Whatever You Can't Do 4/?

Title: Whatever You Can't Do, Chapter 4: Closer to Fine
Author: Anna
Pairing: Callie/Arizona
Rating: PG-13
Summary: In the aftermath of so much loss, Arizona struggles to find herself again. The road to recovery is less of a road and more of a steep hill, but she doesn't have to climb it alone.
Disclaimer: All television shows, movies, books, and other copyrighted material referred to in this work, and the characters, settings, and events thereof, are properties of their respective owners. A/N: Um...so remember how, like two months ago, I said I wouldn't take nearly as long to get chapter 4 published as I did with chapter 3? Yeah, I suck. I am SO SORRY. I could go into all the reasons and excuses for why it took such a ridiculously long time, but honestly, it's not even worth it. I don't even know what happened to the whole month of August, really. I hope people still remember that this exists and want to keep reading, even if, when Grey's comes back, this becomes totally AU. >.< The title for this chapter is from a song of the same name by the Indigo Girls, and the chapter was beta'd by the illustrious englishstrawbie who eats bowls of awesome for breakfast and is seriously the best.

It was the kind of injury that, had it been on anyone else, Callie would have squealed in delight to see.Collapse )
This is just the beginning of something I've been playing around with in my head. This is actually the first time it's ever been written down. Please don't regard it as a finished or even remotely edited work. Thanks!

As humans, we are bound by three universal truths of human experience: we have all had mothers at some point in time; we're all going to die eventually; and nothing is more terrifying than the idea of having no control whatsoever over our lives.

It makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. During the dawn of human existence, control over one's surroundings was the difference between inventing the wheel and being pulverized by a mammoth or accidentally self-immolating in the fire you'd just created. You had to assemble weapons to take down the mammoths; you had to build your fires in a pit to keep them contained. You chose a mate based not solely on attraction and romance, but also on the traits you wanted to pass down to future generations of homo sapiens. If you didn't maintain control over your home, you could lose everything you'd worked so hard to achieve. Much of that still holds true today. Control, in a general sense, equates to cleanliness, stability, and, well, making sure you're still alive tomorrow. It would appear that evolution served us pretty well, then.

So when exactly, over the course of all that evolution, did a person pull a tiny hair out of his eyelid and think, "Blowing this little hair off of my fingertip while I make a wish will likely result in that wish coming to fruition, but only if I never say it out loud!"?

Title: Whatever You Can't Do, Chapter 3: How Do I Get You Alone
Author: Anna
Pairing: Callie/Arizona

A/N: So, so sorry for the long wait! I got caught up in real life (whatever that is), and then this chapter was a bear to write at times. It's a long one, though, so hopefully that kind of makes up for it! I promise to try super hard not to go so long between updates next time. Beta'd by the seriously amazing englishstrawbie. I could not have done this without you!! The title from this chapter comes from the song "Alone," an 80s rock ballad by Heart that I probably love way more than I should.

"See? It's Mama!" Callie inched closer to the bed. "You missed her, didn't you?" Sofia squealed joyously, one hand tangling in Callie's hair while the other reached for Arizona.Collapse )

Yay! I'm so glad you like it. It was a fun prompt to write - you and I seem to be similar in that we'd rather not address the canon drama in any way and that we're suckers for happy endings. ;) Happy…
