Descriptions of workshops and horses that'll be available at Breyerfest 2008!
Bluegrass Bandit
Dark Grey Tennessee Walking Horse mare on the new TWH mold

Bluegrass Bandit, a 2002 grey Tennessee Walking Horse mare, is known to steal the show when it comes to Trail Pleasure classes. At the 2005 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, Bandit was crowned the World Champion in Youth English Trail Pleasure and in Amateur Owned and Trained Western Trail Pleasure. In the end, she was named the World Grand Champion in Western Pleasure and was voted the Trail Pleasure Horse of the Year by Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse Magazine. Come meet Bandit and her owners Chip, Bonny, and Jared Carrier of Gobblers Knob Farm in Franklin, KY.


DZ Weedo
Buckskin Blanket Appaloosa on the Stock Horse Stallion mold, looks like a new tail

DZ Weedo, endearingly known as Odie by his owners Doug and Sue Schembri of Char-O-Lot Ranch in Florida, is a 1994 buckskin Appaloosa stallion. He is particularly well-known in the Western show ring as a multiple national and world champion in Western Riding and trail competitions. His offspring have won several world and national championships, as well as eight Bronze Medallions in racing, 1050 performance points and 304 halter points. Son of the Hall of Fame mare Merry Weedo, DZ Weedo's accomplishments include 1997 Appaloosa National Champion in the Trail Horse divison and 1998 Appaloosa World Champion in the Western Riding division.

Fox Valley Oliver
Black on the Wintersong (Othello) mold

A champion ambassador for the breed, Fox Valley Oliver, an 18-hand Shire owned by Kathy Whitaker of Flying Feathers Farm in New Providence, PA, excels in halter and driving competitions as well as in the sport of combined driving. From 2000 to 2003, he earned several reserve championships in the U.S. and Canada and was named Senior Champion Stallion at the Ohio State Fair in 2003.

Representing Thee Desperado, a Bay on the Proud Arabian Stallion mold

Sired by 11-time Egyptian Arabian Sire of the Year, Thee Desperado (2008 Breyer Spring release model), Pimlico is a stunning example of the undeniable beauty, tail carriage, and graceful movement of the Egyptian Arabian. This Western pleasure horse has many awards including: 2004 Egyptian Event Supreme Champion Stallion, 2003 Egyptian Event Champion Stallion (6-9 Years Old), 2006 Top Five Stallion Region Nine Championships and 2007 Region Nine Champion Stallion.

Extreme customizer Tiffany Purdy is armed and dangerous! Even before the workshop begins, Tiffany will work with participants to create a plan and gather materials to turn your model into a custom work of art.

Laurie Jo, known for her Appaloosa painted models, will teach the basic types of Appaloosa techniques for achieving a realistic pattern on a model horse.


Arabian Costume
Skill Level: Intermediate-Advanced

Join JAH-featured artist Jennifer Wilson as she shows you how to create gorgeous Arabian costumes for your horses. Be prepared to learn her show-winning secrets!


Arabian Halter
Skill Level: Beginner

Work with Jill Floyd and learn how to make your own exotic Arabian halter. Supplies are provided, but you may want to bring along your favorite Arabian model!


Celebration Horse Jewelry Painting
Skill Level: Intermediate

Join artist Sheryl Leisure as she guides you through details like eyes and face markings as you creaye your very own wearable art! Resin pins sculpted by Sheryl in the likeness of our 2008 Celebration Horse Alborzo.


Diorama Making
Skill Level: Intermediate

Martina Vannelli, whose lifelike dioramas have been used in Breyer catalogs and ads, will explain how to add all those little details to make a realistic set up for your model. Students will make props to take home and use on their own set ups.


Drawing Horses
Skill Level: Beginner-Intermediate

In this class students learn how to shade, block, and use horse anatomy together to go beyond the "stick horse figure!"


Dream Horse Kit
Skill Level: Beginner

Students will work alongside the instructor as she guides the through this fun kit for painting a model horse and adding a mohair mane and tail. Each student gets his or her own kit including a Breyer Classics scale model horse!


Dressage Saddles #1 and #2
Skill Level: Intermediate-Advanced

This is a two-part class designed to help students make a beautiful Dressage saddle. Students will have a 30 min. break between classes. Class requires an additional $20 fee.


English Bridle

Etching Horses

Pastels are a great way to layer soft, realistic colors on your model horse and add shading and detail. Learn the techniques for using these chalks including how to make them stay on when you're through. Pastels = Classics scale model. Pastel Pony = Stablemates scale model.

Karen Hoagland will have you shooting great pictures of horses in no time! Bring along your camera and learn how to set up shots and take memorable photos!


Repairing Model Horses

This hands-on class will walk you through the methods of repairing a broken leg, ear, or tail. Class requires use of sculpting epoxy and motor tools.

This is the celebration model for 2008, and my Gods is he beautiful. I am willing to pickup this model for anyone on this community who can not attend BF 2008. What you will have to do is buy your 3 day pass, mail it to me, and when I get home, he will be securely packaged and sent off to you. Im also willing to buy any Special runs for people. Breyerfest 2008
Hello to all....


The purpose of this group is to get SWVA breyer fans together for swaps, future breyerfest plans, and general love of the breyer model.


I'm subscribed to JAH magazine, and as I receive updates for breyerfest 2008, I will post them here. I'm not sure if anyone knows, but they have a special edition being offered, and I will post pics of it tomorrow. I'm not sure if I want it, so if anyone here does, we can work out details for you paying me, and me shipping it when it arrrives

Hello and welcome..
Well, this is the first post.



Merry meet, and I hope you have a good time here. If there is something that you want done, or need to see, drop me a line. I'm still fairly new to the breyer world, and I am not ashamed to admit it. I'm hoping to eventually work this up into a local breyer group/swap meet/ breyerfest bound group...
