i've been vegetarian for over a year and i always thought jello was bad cause gelatin. i just had my wisdom teeth removed 6 hours ago. (i'm a little drugged right now). there is no gelatin in my jello, but there are a lot of things that i don't know what they are. could someone let me know if these are okay, or no.
ingredients:: carrageenan, potassium citrate, adipic acid, citric acid, carob bean gum, sucralose, xanthan gum.
thanks. Current Mood: swollen :( | | Monday, June 20th, 2005 | 6:17 pm [clipped_wings_]

Did you know...
Random things i've learned: Did you know that Combo's Pepporoni Flavored Cracker things are completely meat free? The "pepperoni" flavoring is made from soy. Did you know that Hostess Chocolate Flavored Donuts have beef fat in them? Also i was with my dad and grandma, and they wanted McDonald's so i had to go (i had the fruit and walnut salad, i didn't think i could go too wrong with that).. but while i was there i picked up the Nutrition Facts pamphlet, here's some interesting facts from that: "Ingredient Lists - Revised March 2004" The movie Super Size Me came out earlier that year. Oh and it's a fact, McDonald's does use beef fat as part as ingredients of their french fries, for those that were unsure. "No products are certified vegetarian; all products may contain trace amounts of ingredients derived frin animals." ^^ I thought that was sad. I've also noticed (since i've been eating out a lot lately) almost everything has meat in it. It's so pathetic, you see salads with meat, soups with meat, pretty soon you'll see it in damn cookies. | | Sunday, June 19th, 2005 | 6:28 pm [shut_up_shane]

Sometimes I wish we could MOULD all of the vegetarian groups together and make a big one. We'd be all powerful and rad and wouldn't need to X-Post . . . Is Splenda bad for your health? Also, about soda . . . when it comes to DIET soda, or sparkly water, is the carbonation bad for you? I never fully got that. Thanks! | | Tuesday, June 14th, 2005 | 12:40 am [chinavagina]

Dearest Vegetarians! Hi! Currently, this is my favorite food item in the world: http://www.unclebens.com/rice/default.aspx?prod=88&tab=1 I kind of OD'ed on teriyaki/soy sauce flavored rice/veggie combos . . . I have all this unseasoned rice and only know how to make it taste like teriyaki and soy sauce . . . anyone know how I could make it taste more like that last link I gave you? What's in that stuff I like: PRECOOKED LONG GRAIN RICE; WATER; PRECOOKED WILD RICE; HYDROLYZED SOY/CORN/WHEAT PROTEIN; CANOLA OIL; SUNFLOWER OIL; VEGETABLES (GARLIC*, ONION*, PARSLEY*, SPINACH*, CELERY*, TOMATO*, CARROT*); SUGAR; AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT; SALT; ACETYLATED MONOGLYCERIDE; SPICES; DEXTROSE; SMOKE FLAVOR; NATURAL FLAVORS. *DRIED. I don't know how to explain what it tastes like . . . Basically I am asking if anyone knows how to season rice to make it taste less like it's teriyaki/soy saucy . . . Thanks so much! Sara PS Is that Uncle Ben's stuff uber-processed? I want to be more organic . . . I know I am peretty far from it, but . . . just wondering. | | Sunday, June 5th, 2005 | 12:30 pm [bellahdance]

Hi, again! I have trouble eating lentils that taste like they're chili or something. It just kinda grosses me out. I remember having some kind of lentil soup that was almost a honey BBQ flavor and I'd like to have some more-but I'd like to make it at home because I don't like the idea of the mass-production companies just throwing whatever the hell they want in the soup . . . also, I am having a REALLY hard time feeling satisfied after meals. I'll have tons of rice and wheat cereal and feel totally empty. Is it just that I am not having a variety? Maybe if I hit all my taste buds, I'll feel full? Thanks so much! Sara | 1:17 pm [bintibabe]

Veggies
Okay, I'm redoing my whole vegetarian diet right now. OKAY I KNOW I MESSED UP so PLEASE don't get mad at me. Basically, before, all I ate was veggies. Tons of them - spinachcarrotszuccinisquashwaterchesnuts peasbrusselsprouts and tons more. I got sick (duh to me) and now I am doing rice and wheats and fruits and all this awesome stuff, but I can't seem to get myself to eat veggies, but I need to. Any ideas? A bunch of the recipies I find only have like peppers (not my fave. AT ALL and celery.) What's your favorite way to eat veggies? Thank you so much! Recipe...
This is something i just kinda pulled out of my ass earlier today, and it tasted pretty good. -some sort of pasta (i used tri-colored rotini because that's what we had in our cabinets) -package of italian style frozen vegetables *or fresh ones if you have the time* -tomato sauce -tofu 1. Cook pasta. 2. Cook vegetables. 3. Mix some tofu with the tomato sauce, heat on medium. 4. Mix pasta with vegetables, top with sauce. It's really simple, i also added some seasonings to give it more flavor, like basil and garlic for the tomato sauce, salt and pepper for the vegetables. | | Monday, May 23rd, 2005 | 6:10 am [pink_submarine]

For those of you who are dating someone that is not a vegetarian, do you kiss them after they eat meat? I have and it makes me feel disgusting because I know theres got to be some animal pieces somewhere in their mouth...it's repulsive. Just curious if anyone else feels this way. | | Friday, May 20th, 2005 | 1:27 pm [bellahdance]

I've become sick and my mother is convinced that if I have some meat or eggs or milk, I will be healed. Are there healing properties to meat? What can I tell her? | | Sunday, May 15th, 2005 | 12:42 am [clipped_wings_]

Geletin free Jell-o
I'm going crazy, i miss Jell-O so much, but i don't want regular Jell-O because of the whole geletin thing you know? I've heard of agar-agar, i guess you use it as a subsitute?? Then i read something about Hain's Fruit something?? And Emes Vegan Jel Dessert... only i don't know where to find it. Or maybe i do and i'm blind? Ugh, i need help, major. Please. Could i find something in Trader Joe's? or Whole Foods Market? Maybe just plain ol' Jewel, Kroger, Dominick's?? | | Saturday, May 14th, 2005 | 8:29 pm [skyekytti]

About two years ago I found a pair of sandals, these, that I fell in love with. But I won't wear them because they're leather, only I've thought about them ever since. So I thought I'd ask if anyone knew if there was some place I could buy a pair similar to them without leather. If anyone could tell me I would adore them! | | Sunday, May 8th, 2005 | 10:13 pm [shut_up_shane]

Before I became vegetarian I loved eating hot ham and cheese sandwiches...does anyone know if there is any type of 'meatless' ham or anything?¿? Also, I don't drink milk because it's disgusting so I was wondering what the best kind of soy milk was? Current Mood: confused |
