I stumbled across The Victorian Society in America and thought you might enjoy poking around in there.
Hello! I'm back with more pictures. Last weekend I was in Grand Rapids, Michigan for their annual old house tour. I took over 300 pictures and have uploaded them to a webshots album where you are more than welcome to check them out. I also put 128 of some of the better ones into a picspam over at my journal if any of you are interested. :) 3 comments | post a comment

Last weekend I went to the 46th Annual Historic Home Tour in Marshall, Michigan. If any of you are interested, I took a ton of pictures and have shared over a hundred of them over at my journal. You are also welcome to check out my Webshots album which has all 213 of them!

We're moving into an old Victorian rental house. It has one of those old Victorian fireplaces. Were they built for coal? What can I burn in it now? The landlord said we can use "magic logs" but there's no such thing as a "magic log" that I know of. Does he mean Duraflame or Javalog or something like that? We don't want to convert it or do anything that costs money because we're just renting. Thank you in advance! 4 comments | post a comment
Hi everyone! *waves* I am an old house fanatic and I have no idea why it took me so long to find this lovely community. :/ Anyways, this newbie comes bearing gifts! Last weekend I went to Grand Rapids, Michigan for their annual historic home tour and about a month before that, I went to the one in Marshall, Michigan as well. Oh yeah, I took LOTS of pictures. :D
[crossposted to everyone in this community knows that victorian houses are a joy to find, to fix up and to live in, and knows how attached we become to them. last weekend Hanna passed through Maryland and before she was gone two trees had come down. a 150-year old white oak struck a mature tulip poplar and the cottage was hit by both of them. one went through the roof, one stayed on top, both menaced another Victorian cottage next door but neither came through the ceiling. it hasn't been a pleasant experience but it sure could have been a lot worse. the incident and its aftermath has been the focus of this month's entries in the cottage renovations journal thank you. post a comment
