This is the first thing you should ever read, but you already figured that, didn't you?

We are an open, apolitical, and drama-free community. You CAN come here and rant about being triggered, or that a story didn't properly warn. You CAN come here and rant about a warning being ridiculous, but you canNOT come in here and tell someone else they shouldn't be triggered by something.

We aim to be a resource. The goal is open discussion of when to warn and how best to, what is appropriate, what is not, and how to tactfully navigate the nuances of emotional protection. We welcome all topics regarding warnings and all questions on the matter, and want people to feel like they can ask their questions without judgment.

That being said, by joining the community and, thus, becoming a member, you agree to adhere to the following:

1) Be respectful of everyone. Not one single person in this community has a right to disrespect another. This community is, by nature, volatile, and because it is, we do recognize that following this rule can be hard. But if the options are to get off the internet or be disrespectful to others, we ask that you choose the former, lest we be forced to take further action. We're not saying that you are not allowed to debate opposite opinions or defend yourself when attacked, but please don't make it personal.

2) Warn, tag, and rate your posts appropriately. LiveJournal allows users to mark in their post what rating the post should be at. naatz, in a post on another comm, provided a screen shot to show how to do this. It can be viewed here.

Because this feature can only be edited by the original poster, we have a policy regarding the matter. If your post can be read as being too explicit for anyone under 18, for example, and you have NOT marked it as "Contains Explicit content," a mod will ask you to change it. Failure to comply within 3 days (or an outright refusal to do so) will result in your post being deleted. Repeat offenses will result in a ban. (Three, to be exact. Outright refusal will result in a ban.) Applying tags works similarly. We don't want to run around always updating the tags on your post. Please use the warning tags appropriately.

3) No trolling. We outright ban trolls. If you are suspected of trolling, you will be banned, but can appeal that decision here.

4) Do not delete your posts/comments. Deleting comments will result in being banned. This includes deleting and reposting to edit comments, or fix HTML. As unfortunate and embarrassing as that is, we have to disallow deleting and reposting for the integrity of this rule. If LJ has doubleposted you, or you have posted to the wrong community by mistake, please let a mod know, and we can take care of it.

5) Do not drastically change your post in edit. This is too similar to outright deleting it, and for the same reason as why deleting is verboten, so is editing to drastically change. (You can, however, strike through what you've posted.)

5a) Explain why you edit. Minor editing is absolutely fine, however, you need to explain what changed. Not in super detail, just a cursory "Fixed grammar" or the like is perfectly fine and, in fact, appreciated.

6) Do not screen comments. This is annoying. Don't do it.

Just as a thought to avoid possible backlash: a good rule of thumb is to reread what you've written before you post to make sure that it's what you've wanted to post, with the phrasing and tone you wanted to.

What if I need help with properly labeling my story?
Post a link to it, slap on the tag "not sure if triggery" and those willing to potentially sacrifice their own personal state of mind to ensure others will not do the same will read and post about your fic.

If you have multiple chapters in that story that you aren't posting at once, update the first post. Making another post for another story is fine so long as you don't post several stories in a short period of time. If you need to do that, please restrain it all down to one post.

For those willing to be victims. Please track the post so that you may read updates to it. Specially if it's a multi-chapter fic and the chapters are spaced out on the long side.

I am sure there will need to be more rules added. I cannot guarantee that anyone will specify when the rules are changed/added to, so reviewing this on a regular basis is a good idea, no?

Also, if you have any questions/comments/complaints you want to take up with the mods directly, do so here actually here. I apparently linked the wrong thing. Drat.

The post about all the tags that may explain the ones you may have questions on (and will be listed in EVERY. SINGLE. TAG.) is here. And awesome. Yeah.
