Hello all!

I would like to make this known to members of this great comm that I am no longer Mod (I started the comm when i was using the lj

oberin) and I haven't been for a few years. The new mod hasn't updated the profile with the new information.

I did send a message to them in regards to spam bots the last time they were doing their rampant postings but got no response.
So, I ask you to address any issues or concerns to them, not me. I have no access whatsoever.

I have to give Jess a thank you for giving me a heads up that its still an issue. Feel free to PM the proper mod. Any further PMs to me, stating that I "fix" things will be ignored.

Drug Testing

I am a parent with two older teens and I worry about them using marijuana. I sometimes suspect that my kids may have tried this and I am concerned with them using this drug and also the potential of it being a gateway to other drugs. I went online to see if there were any home drug testing kits that I can use that will work to detect marijuana in their system.

I found several tests that can be used to test for this drug and most of them work by using a urine test. From what I understand, the best time to test is in the morning before the individual has a chance to drink any products that can wipe the substance from their system. While most sites state that marijuana stays in the system for 7 days, some of the other sites mention that it only stays in there for 3 days. I also know that there are some detoxifiers that can rid the body of the drug, although I think they have to be taken right before the test.

I am wondering which product is best to use when it comes to drug testing for your kids and if other parents out there have also had this experience. Do some products work better than others when it comes to detecting marijuana in the system? And do all recommend that testing be done in the morning or should it be at other times? I realize random drug testing of my kids may seem out of line to some parents but the way that I feel, if they live under my roof, they need to live by my rules. I am just trying to do what is right for my kids.

I have a question for all the pagans out there in Winterpeg-land... have any of you ever felt specific places in our city that feel particularly numinous or sacred, whether outside or indoors (of which there are curious cases of such happening in Asia, including a temple being built on top of an old building)?

Well, it is definitely sad to see Cyd go, hopefully I can fill the large shoes left behind.

That being said...let's get the ball rolling!

Thank you for responding to my poll, that has helped me begin a plan that hopefully will be shaped by you in the upcoming future.
I have considered every single vote, and come up with the following starting point:

Every week beginning on Monday's, we will have a new topic of discussion.
I will be relying on you guys to let me know what you are interested in.
So if you could please send me a quick message stating your interests, I will make sure to include them for discussion.
Monday through Sunday we will talk about specific areas of each topic, as well as answer questions that come up.
Feel free to ask and share whatever you like, afterall, this is your group and you shape it!
Each discussion will be brought to a close with related spells on Sunday!
Feel free to contribute your own spells as well!

Every Friday will be Factual Friday.
Random facts will provided in regards to anything and everything interesting I can get my hands on.
You are more than welcome to provide facts of your own!

At the end/beginning of every month, a pre-determined topic will be selected, and information about the topic will be provided.
I will gather as much information as I can find and put together in a nice little FYI for you.
I will post the topic a month in advance so that you may provide me with your own personal experiences or anything you'd like to share.
Any spells related to the topic will also be included.

If you have any questions you'd like answered, you may make a post about them and we can answer them as a group, or you are more than welcome to shoot me a message and I will come up with the best answer I am capable of, and we can discuss it.
I am no know it all, but I will use my handy research skills to do the best I can!

In the middle of every month I will compile a bunch of book reviews, of books that my be of interest.
Feel free to provide your own review of books that you have read.

As you may have noticed, the general guideline for this group is that it is compiled by each members participation.
Considering we are called WinnipegPagans, I am going for a community-like group here.
That being said, this isn't something I can do completely solo.
If you are interested in helping me research topics, find books to review, or provide facts and aid in topic discussions, I would love to have your help!
Just shoot me a message and we can get working.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to shoot me a message.

This new plan will be starting on October 1st, so please send me all your interests and ideas as soon as possible.

sadly, i must say that this community has fallen by the wayside for me and that is a sad injustice. winnipeg's pagan community is very much alive and thriving.

Hello there, 'Winnipagans'! :)

My partner and I are looking to move to Winnipeg next summer (ish), depending on when her open Canadian work permit comes through, and we thought it might be fun to reach out to the community and see if we couldn't find some folks to talk to a bit about the city, to learn from and befriend and start forming some friendships ahead of time.

I'm Maia, she's Jack. We're left-wing, married lesbians into good food (vegetarian at the moment), good wine, green living, literature, art and a whole host of other things. We work within the Northern Tradition framework and a lot of the deities therein, cross-pantheon. She's brilliant with the runes, I'm studying seidh, healing and divination.

I feel like this is turning into a personals ad! *G*

Seeking like-minded others for frith, fun and friendship! We'd love to find ourselves a community to work with.

Does anyone know if any stores in the city sell the Original Rider-Waite Tarot? Its like the Rider-Waite, but more browner and with different title fonts. I kind of want to avoid ordering it online if at all possible, but if push comes to shove..

Tarot, specifically.

I used to have the Sharman-Caselli Deck (aka that soft bluish Tarot for Beginner's set), but it went missing.

I really don't want to have to buy the set again, seeing as I have the book already, but I don't want to buy the cards from Amazon.uk.. seeing as I have no idea how to do that.

Does anyone in the city have this deck that they'd be willing to sell, or just give away for free?

I know that a lot of Pagans are pet lovers, so I felt it was arguably appropriate to post this here.

I've just created an LJ community for Manitobans concerned with the conduct at the Misty Gardens Pet Cemetery:

As someone who had my pet cremated at Misty Gardens back in March of 2004, I share the distress of many Manitobans who loved their companion animals and are now appalled at the thought that their bodies might have been mistreated by someone who was paid to handle them with dignity and respect. If you are reading this and are one of those people, you have my sincerest condolences. I truly hope that this horrible situation will be sorted out as quickly as possible by those authorities who have the power to tell us what happened, and when, and why.

Does anyone know of any stores in the city that are geared more towards pagans besides Wiccans? No offense, to any Wiccans, that is. :) I just wanna check out some places that don't have pentacles all over them, or are overly Wiccan-themed. I wanna check out some altar clothes, candles, and/or incense. And maybe check out some statuary. Or just altar items in general.

Any help is appreciated. :)
