• Hi All,

I have a website since last 7 years and it was hosted on siteground where other than some little things, experience was wonderful. This year, Siteground has decided to discontinue their services in my area and therefore I had to move onto another host.

I picked Bluehost and yesterday (24th August 2025) migrated the website. From that time, my problems have started. Website does not open up most of the time stating “Error 429 – Too many requests” and if it does open, it takes a lot of time (say >30secs) for just the homepage.

Also, it has also started displayin error “site is not secure as it doesn’t have SSL certificate and incognito) whereas I have a paid up SSL certiticate and installed correctly with Bluehost.

When I contacted Bluehost, they replied that running processes for your account is too high (26 concurrent processes) and bluehost limits it too 25 processes. Also you optimize your website for plugins, process count, blah, blah etc.

I don’t understand much of it. On siteground also, it was shared services and yet I never experienced these errors in all of my time there.

Can you please help with my issue. Because if these issues persists, I may well have to move away from bluehost as either my website does not open at all (mostly) or takes a lot of time to open.

    Thanks for your time,

    Madhur Jain

Also you optimize your website for plugins, process count, blah, blah etc.

But what you’re not writing here is exactly what it’s all about. Bluehost is definitely a host that knows what it’s talking about when it gives tips like this. They are also present here in the forum, and you will probably get a response from them that also points out this necessary optimization.

Background: your website seems to start a lot of processes at the same time. There can be many reasons for this, but they are often related to the plugins used. Therefore, it is important to look at how your project is structured and whether what it does is really necessary. The fact that it ran smoothly with your previous host is probably due to their carelessness in dealing with customer projects. Bluehost makes sure that they run efficiently and, in such cases, points out exactly such problems.

So first, check under Tools > Site Health to see what WordPress itself recommends there. You may already see a few hints there.

Then take a look at your active plugins. Consider whether you actually still use any of them and, if so, which ones. Check whether they are up to date. If not, update them.

Furthermore, it would probably be advisable to optimize the website in general. Take a look at this article: https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/performance/optimization/

Since no one here knows your website, we can’t give you any more specific tips. But I hope this gives you a good starting point. If you’re looking for personal support, you’re sure to find it here: https://jobs.wordpress.net – or ask you hosting support.

See, thats my point. This website was working fine for 7 years. Suddenly it has stopped working. What has suddenly happened other than migration to Bluehost. If theses processes are indeed the culprit, then why didn’t they cause any problems till now. And till now, site health never listed any grave concerns that can shut down website or lead to enormouse loading time.

In my long post, I mentioned a lot of things but you just picked one of them. My point here is that bluehost is a shared services host (in my case). If bluehost is giving me trouble, then previous shared services too should have given trouble. Right now, my website simply does not open. What am I suppose to do with it?

“The fact that it ran smoothly with your previous host is probably due to their carelessness in dealing with customer projects. Bluehost makes sure that they run efficiently and, in such cases, points out exactly such problems.” What does it this mean exactly? That everybody (me, previous shared services provider) are incompetent.

I am looking for solutions for my problems and not interested in anything else.

The 429 Too Many Requests message appears when your site exceeds the PHP process limit of 25. Each plugin or script can start a process, and when the number is exceeded new requests are blocked.

For the SSL warning, confirm that your WordPress Address and Site Address in Settings > General both begin with https:// and enable Force HTTPS in your hosting control panel. This will make sure the certificate is applied consistently.

To help reduce the number of processes, review your active plugins and deactivate any that are not essential. Enabling caching will also help lower the load, and adding a CDN such as Cloudflare can reduce server strain.

After making these changes, test again and monitor your process count to see if it improves.

@knoxwilder Thank you very much for the suggestions. I am trying out various things to see which one works for me.
