well the i love the 60s cause of the music but also the mentality..everyone was relaxed, no one gave a shit what you wore and stuff, everyone loved each other. i was just so peaceful.
but the 20s are really interesting to me, id just rather live in the 60s |

hey everyone, I'm new here! When I found this community (which would be about.. ten minutes ago), I KNEW this place was meant for me. My friends and I are always saying that I was born in the wrong decade. I was meant to be living in the sixties. This is because of a combination of being obsessed with the Beatles, and being fascinated by 60's protest movements and Woodstock and counterculture and equal rights for all. Martin Luther King Jr, John F Kennedy, Malcom X, the Beatles... the March on Washington, Freedom Summer, Vietnam, SNCC, landing on the moon... God, it would've been SO amazing. I can't believe I missed it.
Anyhow, so I'm really glad to be a part of this community, because I really need other people to reminisce about things we never lived through! |

Hey everyone. I just joined, thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Allison (Ali for short), I'm seventeen, and I live in San Diego, but I'll soon be relocating to Philadelphia for college. Part of me was born in the wrong decade, part of me was born in the wrong century, and the other part of me was born in the wrong millenium.
The wrong decade part can be attributed to the fact that I am an unabashed hippie. I have a strong affinity for anything long and flowly, I'm a vegetarian who advocates peace and minority rights, and I adore the outdoors. Some of the best music was created in this period of time (though I'm a softy for eighties hair bands-- sue me!)
The wrong century part... Well, I'm a child of the European Renaissance. I love the clothing, the literature, the art, the paradigms. I also love the neoclassicism, which leads me to the millenium part...
In the Fall, I'll begin my minor in Ancient Classics. I'm obsessed with ancient civilizations. Of any time in history, these are the times that have the greatest pull for me. Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Celts... there is much <3age.
And as a side note, I adore Pre-Raphaelite art.
Wow... This has become really lengthy, so I'll shut up. I'm just happy to find a community who sort of understands where I come from (or should have come from!) ^_^; |
