The Florida Bar's legal and civics education programming is overseen and directed by The Florida Bar Constitutional Judiciary Committee, which is charged with strengthening the public’s understanding of the role of the judicial branch of government, the Constitution, the rule of law, and the role of judges and juries in the administration of justice.
The Vote’s in Your Court is a collection of resources for voters regarding judges and judicial elections. It includes the “Guide for Florida Voters,” an easy-to-read, nonpartisan guide explaining the role of judges, judicial elections, and the merit retention process.
The Bar’s Benchmarks presentations promote the understanding of the role of the judicial branch of government; the Constitution; the rule of law; and the role judges, lawyers and juries play the administration of justice. Citizens, Civics and the Courts, a civics education website developed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit aimed at improving public knowledge of the U.S. Courts and Constitution.
Florida Code of Judicial Conduct
This competition, administered by the Bar's Law Related Education Committee, is a two-part program that offers a unique opportunity to learn about the appellate process. Students write briefs and are invited to present oral argument before appellate judges in each of the six District Courts of Appeal based on a fictitious case. A statewide final round is held at the Florida Supreme Court.
