Austria to enable peer-to-peer electricity sharing from October
Austria will introduce peer-to-peer electricity sharing from Oct. 5, initially allowing participation between metering points served by the same grid operator. Reduced grid charges for peer-to-peer arrangements are expected to take effect from January 2027, with nationwide implementation planned from April 2027.
PVT-assisted heat pumps achieve up to 49.3% exergy efficiency in cold climates
Chinese researchers have analyzed a PVT-assisted air-source heat pump system that recovers waste heat from solar panels to preheat incoming air and improve heating performance in cold climates. The system achieved exergy efficiencies of 41.2% to 49.3%, while reducing evaporator exergy losses and suppressing frost formation.

Swelect launches hybrid solar inverter range for C&I applications
Swelect Energy Systems has launched its Swess EN+ hybrid solar inverter range for C&I applications, covering 5–50 kW and scalable beyond 50 kW. The system integrates solar, battery storage and grid power, expanding Swelect’s energy portfolio alongside its recently increased 2 GW+ PV module capacity and 10 MWh BESS.
PV system costs increase by 7% in Brazil in H1
Average PV system prices in Brazil rose 7% in the first half of 2026, driven by higher equipment costs, while larger systems continued to offer lower per-watt prices.
The increase came as distributed generation slowed, residential installations gained market share, and the use of financing fell to its lowest level in the period analyzed.

Coordination can bring value to Brazil
More curtailment and steeper ramp rates are proving costly in Brazil, but a lack of regulation for virtual power plants (VPPs) is limiting the potential for distributed assets to smooth out the demand curve. Henrique Ribeiro from S&P Global explains how VPPs could better support Brazil’s transition while reducing reliance on expensive thermal generators.
