This DVD collection has mainly been mastered from 16mm print materials of varying quality. For a budget-priced edition, this collection rates a little higher than usual for its choice of source materials and piano accompaniment. A “Smiles & Spectacles: A Harold Lloyd Treasury” digital watermark appears in the lower-right corner of each of the films throughout.

The films are accompanied by soundtracks compiled from preexisting music recordings. You will get tired of hearing the same recordings over and over in the course of watching this collection.

Supplemental material includes The Milky Way (1936) mastered from a fair to good 16mm reduction print; and The Sin of Harold Diddlebock (1947) presented from a poor 16mm reduction print.

Not a horrid collection, and there are a few films here that are not available elsewhere, but not comparable to other Lloyd editions from Criterion, New Line, and Kino International. OK, but not recommended.
