Hallelujah! BBR at last reports a half-year profitâ€Ķ. after >3 years of continual damaging losses. Hitherto my mindset was that there are three certainties in life: death, taxes â€Ķ. and BBR loss announcements. And to my (pleasant) surprise a dividend has been declared, albeit at a modest level.

My hope is CEO Andrew and his Management Team now rise to the challenge of eeking out sustained positive earnings & cash flow, and generating dividends, rather than focusing on a pursuit of academically intriguing construction techniques. I suppose much will be linked to BBR’s LINQ development (dreadful pun intended). Why am I not holding my breath? Possibly because I have learned that with this company order book size - now quoted as S$ 187 Mln - is not necessarily a sound litmus indicator for future earnings: too often flawed project execution has resulted in negative margin projects, eroding shareholder value.

Vested, for some time (possibly a mistake).

Something is going on with BBR Holdings’ share price. Yes, there has been an improvement in fundamentals, positive y-o-y profitability, cash position, rumours regarding public infrastructure funding etc. But does this justify a ~70% increase in share price over the past 5 weeks??

Not that I’m complaining (unlike some of my previous BBR posts). But forgive my uninformed narrative - I do not know what’s driving this share price hikeâ€Ķ and why now?

Vested, for a long time.

Across the board of construction companies KSH, BBR, OKP, Wee Hur, Ley Choon, ISOteam, BRC asia, Hocklianseng, they have seen share price increase due to the belief that Singapore governmnet is in a cycle of pumping in more money for infratstucture projects

Both Quarz Capital and Volare Capital have combined again to take up a total of ~30% in BBR Holdings from a series of married trades with existing insiders. A rep from Quarz has been appointed onto the BOD in replacement and it will be interesting to see whether the duo will remain "passive" shareholders or start to agitate for some "value unlocking".

Quarz Capital emerges as substantial shareholder at BBR Holdings following various married deals

Meanwhile, Quarz Capital picked up the 9 million shares sold on July 10 by BBR Holding AG and bought a further 31.5 million shares on July 13. This brings its shareholding in BBR Holdings from the previous 2.5% to 15.09%.

With the above transactions being accounted for, BBR Holdings has yet to disclosed the identity of the buyer of the remaining 43 million shares, which accounts for 13.33% of the total share issued at the company.
