V-Day Prep

Well I've been crafting today. We are just getting off from a three day weekend and my house was a TOTAL disaster. This weekend I bought some Valentine's crafts to do. So when the kids left for school. I got all my cleaning done so I could sit and craft. Everything was done by 11am. I really wanted to craft I tell ya.

A felt XO heart garlin. They are the same except one is bigger. I saw this idea on pinterest.

A sucker will be attached to the lips and staches.

Ice storm 2012

Seattle had a big ice storm this last week. It was bizarre I tell you. In the winter we usually get rain, rain and more rain. Last week we got snow and then it froze and then it rained and froze again, then rained and froze. Sometimes it will snow and will melt before you can have any fun in it. It's a week later and I still have snow outside along the streets and in the yard. Remember snow is very uncommon here in my neighbor hood.

We had a tree break through the back fence.
Our power was out for about 28 hours. I had to use the temporary fridge on the deck. In the morning our temp upstairs was 40 degrees. downstairs was 60 degrees. But we slept warm. Had so much fun "camping" in the house and entertaining each other. The kids put together a Good Luck Charlie episode for us. Owen woke up disoriented and yelling. That's always fun.
Look how thick the ice was. So many trees fell over. One morning I woke up early and stood on the deck and listened to all the branches breaking from the trees behind our house in the green belt. It was a show. Big branches were breaking everywhere. Plus I heard at least three big trees fall down. It was a massive earth moving rumble sound. I didn't feel it just heard it.
wet boots. wet boots. wet boots. This is what it looked like out my front door. Dad and the kids taking advantage of all the wonderful snow. Dad doesn't play in the snow often so here is my journal entry photo of Dad actually playing and having fun in the snow.

Klondike

Owen's first Klondike. He had an absolute blast, stayed warm, and fell off the bunk bed, from something like being disorented in new place and it being dark. Poor kid.

I volunteered to be the "Give the new kids who come into our school a tour around the building" gal. I went up to a classroom to get trained by a teacher. Ended up having to wait for her. While I was waiting Owen was finishing up with green team. So I got to chat with him a little. The teacher saw me with him and apologized to me about having me wait and I said to her "that's okay I got to chat with my son while I waited so it's all good." and her eyes got big and pointed to Owen and said "That's your son?" the praise she then told me about Owen just made my momma heart so happy. He really is turning into a fantastic boy. The trait she saw from him was being able to see what needs to be done and then get it done. Good Job Owen.

Owen and Brad are actually on Owen's first boy scout camp out right now. I know, It's the middle of winter! A bunch of troops each build their own sled and then race them. As well of do a bunch of other boy scout stuff. As we were taking Owen to the church. Luke who was sitting next to Owen in the car turned to him and said "Owen, I'm going to miss you!" and Lucy hearing this followed up by saying "Yeah, Owen, I will miss you too." Moments like these where loving words are exchanged always stand out to mom and make it into her journal.

Savanah and Chole were instant friends right from the beginning. They get along so good and have so much fun with each other. See in the picture how their arms are linked. Yep that pretty much sums how they walk around. So cute to see.
Betty (the dog) is doing so good with other kids. I love that she is in this picture with Savanah and Chloe. They were eating cookies. Betty had her watchful eye on their cookies.
Last night was movie night at the school. I had a grundal of kids. Lucy brought Cameron and Sophia. Savanah brought Chloe. And then I had Jaeger and Luke. That's seven kids. One lady said to me. Did you just add water and they multiplied?  With all those kids they were so good and we had so much fun.
Happy Three Day Weekend!

Lunch Date

Today was no normal lunch for us. We skedaddled up to Seattle and ate with our Dad. We picked him up and drove down to the waterfront. Sometimes you've got to break out of the normal schedule and do something fun. We love you Dad. Thanks for the Awesome lunch out.

In the water there was a school of tiny fish. They were everywhere. So fun to see.

Happy New Year!

This year for New Year's we spent the evening with the McClung's. We played a bunch of games. Our kids are getting old enough that they want to play with us, which really make the evening fun. We really got to spend quality time with the kiddos. It is fun to play with them and I know they enjoy being at the "table" with everyone. We had so many poppers this year that every kid got to shoot one off every hour of the count down. My floor was almost completely covered in confetti. Which was really hard to allow and not freak out about.
Savanah rang in the new year by barfing all over the couch.
Happy New Year!
Yeah, you don't want to be in the way of Jaeger and Caleb when they shoot off their poppers. Dangerous. These two have been friends for so long. Right now they are basically the same build and same height and almost the same hair color.
This Sunday marks a BIG milestone for the Redford family. Today my youngest daughter, Savanah went to sunbeams for the first time. The very first class in the Primary. To add to that. My oldest son is in the last class of Primary! All morning long Savanah kept saying to me "Mom, I'm so excited to be a sunbeam."  I didn't mention to her this morning, however that I would no longer be in her class. She got a little nervous today in primary and had to see me for a, we'll call it a pep talk, and then returned to class.
A very talented and wonderful sister in our ward (Sister Hamilton) makes church bags for all the sunbeams. She started this when she was Lucy's sunbeam teacher. And did it when she was Luke's teacher. And even though she is not teaching sunbeams anymore she still makes them for all the sunbeams. How many years is that now? Savanah was so excited to get her purple church bag.
Here are all three bags.
Thanks so much Sis. Hamilton!
