The Robotic Life of Brent and Erika

We're in Bountiful enjoying our time dog-sitting! We've also been working on our Scott-Bot movie. Here's a preview! Thank goodness for Garageband! This scene is way better with the music. A note for all my film friends: yes, this was shot on a Canon ZR800 (translation for my non-film friends: VERY CHEAP CAMERA). Yes, my only production class was 185. No, I've never directed, filmed, or really edited anything before, and yes, this has been a blast to put together.

The Graphically Designed Life of Erika

Okay, I know that two posts in one day is really excessive, but I just made these buttons for the website I'm creating, and I'm really proud of them because I've never done anything like this before. I just made them in photoshop with a combination of rounded rectangle tools, circle tools, and the paintbrush. They're icons that take you to pages of video documentaries, photo documentaries, and audio documentaries. What do you think? I don't have graphic design ambitions, but I'm really proud of myself for these!

The Ongoing Life of Brent and Erika

Okay. I'm starting to recognize that I have neglected this blog for way too long. If I'm not careful, people are going to stop checking it! And then where would we be? This summer is flying by. The way I pictured it being and the way it has actually been are mostly two separate things. Mostly I imagined a lot of sitting around and relaxing and getting bored. While we have had more relaxation time than we do during the school year, I just feel like we're busy busy busy. I'll try to give you some of the highlights, with pictures (when appropriate). On June 11th, Brent's brother Mark went into the MTC! Unfortunately, we don't have the pictures to this one, but we will someday. Both varieties of Elder Hill are doing well. They both say the language is coming well. My brother Alex was actually supposed to go to Mexico on Monday, but they're having visa troubles. He seems to be taking it well. In June we took a short trip with my parents to go to Washington to see...

20 Years of the Life of Erika

We're alive! We've been doing quite a bit, and we keep meaning to blog about it, but you know how it goes...it just doesn't happen. However, now that I'm sitting alone on a Sunday night (Brent's out visiting ward members), I've been catching up on the blogs I regularly read, and I noticed that I was tagged (albeit in a general way) for this 20 years of life thing (thanks Barbara!) that I think is pretty cool way to see how much your life can change in 20 years, so, here I go! (I promise we'll at least put up some pictures of what we've been doing lately in a little ) 20 Years 20 Years ago... 1. I was 3 years old. 2. I lived in Germany, and I remember driving around in our yellow VW rabbit and eating small packages of Haribo Gummy bears. They are still the only gummy bears I like. 3. I think I had my first boyfriend. His name was James Wood. That might have been later though, but I know it was before I was 5. We thought we were going to get married. Clear...
