Commit to the Lord

We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives
the right answer. People may be pure in their
own eyes, but the Lord examines their
motives. Commit your actions to the Lord,
and your plans will succed.

Letter to the Editor

Mom wrote a Letter to the Editor to the newspaper here in town and it was published yesterday. Editor, An occurrence last Wednesday left me highly frustrated. A Muscovy duck living in the park was attacked by a dog and I wanted to find some help for him. I called my Vet but they said that they couldn’t take him but told me to try Shasta wildlife. I went online and searched Shasta wildlife and the page that came up had Tehama wildlife on it also so I decided to call them, but it turned out to be in Anderson which is really in Shasta county not Tehama county. The lady who answered was nice enough to tell me how to get out there but said she had to go to Red Bluff. She gave me the directions to the refuge but I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t meet her here in Red Bluff instead of taking the painfully injured duck all the way to Anderson. I did ask what Vet the refuge used and she told me. I decided to call them here in Red Bluff and they told me that I had to be a licensed certified person connected to wildlife to be able to bring the duck in. The Muscovy duck is declared a domestic and is not covered by California Fish and Game but all the other ducks are. My neighbor called Animal control in Red Bluff but got no answer. She suggested we take the duck there. When we got there they started to declined but one of the personnel made a phone call and said they could take him to get euthanized. One other thing troubles me, the geese are considered domestic also but yet run wild in the City River park. I did read the sign there and it states the area is operated and maintained by the City Of Red Bluff. It also states California Fish and Game has control over wild life. The geese are constantly assailed by running dogs and rocks thrown at them. What happens to them when they get hurt or sick? The City or Wildlife?

Salvation

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads
to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly
sorrow leads to death.

Red Facey is Gone

Red Facey was put down today. It hit Mom
almost as hard as the death of Patches.
No more mating with Dad's van. No more watching him waddle and wiggle his butt and no more wagging of his tail like a woofie. This is his face after a goose got him.
This picture was taken yesterday after he was
attacked by a dog twice the day before. His chest
looks like it is swollen. Mom thinks he had internal
injuries. He wasn't eating. Mom put out his ration of
corn scratch and gave him some lettuce but it
wasn't touched. This morning she went out
and his breathing was labored and he wouldn't
move when Mom touched him.
Trying to get through the bureucracy
of trying to find out where he could go to find
some help was almost impossible. Our
neighbor who also helped with Red Facey
said to take him to the Animal shelter here
in town. When they got there they almost
wouldn't take him. But the lady at the shelter
ended up calling their vet and said it was O.K. to
get him euthanized. The problem was Ducky
was considered Domestic but yet he was
out in the wild and the two fields of state
and county wouldn't agree to where he should
go. The Vets in town wouldn't do it as it was
against the law for them to do it unless the
person was certified from the state or
county. Mom is stopping here because
she is absolutely frustrated with what she
had to go through.

Napping Weather

It was a great day for eating and napping.
It turned cold again, like winter. Rain and
wind and it didn't get over 54 degrees. The
weather here just doesn't know what it wants
to do. It was in the 80's at the first of last
week. You know that old saying, If you
don't like the weather just hang around and
it will change. That is what it is doing here.
It'll be warm again in the middle of the
week.

In the Name of Jesus

Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth
agree about anything you ask for, it will be
done for you by My Father in heaven. For
where two or three come together in My
Name, there am I with them.

The Saga of the Red Faced Muscovy Duck

We had another saga of our Red Faced Duck. This
year he started as usual doing his mating dance
with Dad's van again. But then he did something
quite unexpected. He started hanging around the
geese. Last year the geese would run Ducky off,
this year he tried running them off.
The geese in this picture started yelling
at the other geese in the second picture.
When they joined together, you should have heard
the racket they were making. They have been
honking for several months since mating season began.
We have several nests close in proximity of our
mobile home. Our neighbor has been finding
egg shells from their eggs in their car port so
some nocternal animals have been raiding
their nests. There is one nest left and Ducky
has been putting in time protecting the nest. One of
the male geese got into a fight with Ducky and
Mom was afraid Ducky would get hurt so she tried
to get it off of Ducky by throwing small rocks at
him, when that didn't work she tried to push him
away. But it didn't work either.
This is Red Facey flapping his wings This is one of the geese that made it from last years brood. Geese are not very good at parenting. The don't look after the gooslings after they are born. Red Facey got into another fight and this time he got hurt.
Mom just finished reading this book and
it was hilarious. She doesn't feel as bad
now befriending a Muscovy red faced duck.
This author went all out with his duck. He
decided to get another Muscovy duck for the
one he had. Dora duck got a pal named
Charlotte. Only thing is Charlotte turned
out to be a Charley and then all the fun
started.

To Him Belongs Eternal Praise

The works of His hands are faithful and just;
all His precepts are trustworthy. They are
steadfast for ever and ever, done in
faithfulness and uprightness. He provided
redemption for His people; He ordained
His covenant forever-holy and awesome is
His name. The fear of the Lord is the be-
ginning of wisdom; all who follow His pre-
cepts have good understanding. To Him
belongs eternal praise.

Spot the Neighbor Cat

This is the neighbors cat Spot. When Mom first
saw the picture she thought it was Cleo after
she downloaded it to the computer. Mom
was watering her flowers the other day and
didn't see him up there. When she got to the
flowers on the rack below him, she looked up
and looked Spot right in the eye. He looked like
he said I am not moving from here whether you
like it or not. Mom said it was O.K. she didn't
mind him there and went on watering. Then
she had to go get her camera. Usually Spot
don't let Mom pet him much. Sometimes
she gets lucky.
