3 1/2 Years Old!

The kids are super creative lately. They love to make up games and play really well together. Just today while I was taking a shower, they kept taking turns closing the door and pretending they weren't home while the other two knocked on the other side. They also love to wrap and give gifts to one another. There's so much trading going on around here.

Another favorite activity is cutting and coloring. They are obsessed with the cutting. This leaves quite the mess at the counter every day.

The kids have also been really into watching movies, too. Before, they would barely sit through 5 minutes. Now, they can watch an entire movie. Abs does a bit better than the boys. Current faves are Tangled and Winnie the Pooh. Their favorite Sprout shows are Lazy Town and Caillou. I can't tell you how many episodes of Lazy Town (also known as "The Man Show") I have seen. At least I like the music ;)

Here are the specifics:

Abby: Definitely showing her stubborn side lately. When she is set on something, she will not let it go. I have learned to just ignore her, otherwise her tantrum continues. She also has a very hard time saying she is sorry. We make the boys do it when they are naughty, but Abs feels she gets a free pass. No way!

Abby has really impressed me with her knowledge of letters. She can identify almost every single one! She not only can spell her name, but also her brothers' names as well. She is still my most calm child and can sit and look at books, watch t.v., or color for quite some time. Her bestest buddy is still Jack. They are so adorable together. She is definitely the boss in that relationship!

Josh: This kid amazes me daily. He has the best memory ever! I definitely know where he got that from (that would be Chris!). He'll hear something on t.v. and totally remember and repeat it days later. If you promise him something, he will definitely hold you to it. Joshy is still my cuddle bug. I'm the first one he will go to and I just love that he is so affectionate.

Josh has been having a bit of trouble staying in his bed all night. I always hear him thump, thump, thump up the stairs in the middle of the night and climb into our bed. Once there, he continues to sleep until around 6:30am and then requests that I turn on Lazy Town. He's pretty much first asleep and first awake.

Jack: So proud of my little man. He went through a very whiny phase last month and thankfully, that has ended. He has learned to express himself better, and that has definitely helped. He continues to be the mediator between his brother and sister. He pretty much plays well with everyone and is always sought after to build a house or drive cars. He has also been fantastic when it comes to going to class. No problems with him crying or wanting to stay with me!

His appetite is ever increasing and my mom absolutely adores him because he tries all her cooking! He is definitely the meat eater of the group.

We have signed the kids up for preschool 2 days a week. Wow! Signing three kids up at once is quite expensive! Whenever I think about them going to school, I get super sad. Like I've said before, I feel no need to take a break from them. I don't want to miss a thing!

Thank Goodness It's Not Florida!

My kids love winter! Can you believe it?! They see it snowing and right away they want to go play outside. The cold has no effect on them.

Yet another "big snowstorm" was set to hit Chicago. It wasn't as big as last year, but it made for some great packing snow to play in.
It wasn't too cold outside, but it was a little windy. The kids were thoroughly bundled up and I was the one getting cold!

Out came the shovels and buckets.
Then the sled. Chris made a path for them and these two (Abby and Jack) went over and over again.
Finally, Josh joined in on the fun!
Then it was time to make snowmen. Remember, Chris had to make 3, not 1! The kids "helped" by adding on to the heads.
We didn't have any carrots, so I used chalk to color in the buttons and nose. The kids were happy! I went inside to start the hot chocolate and Chris had a snowball fight with the kids. They didn't want to come in even when tempted with hot chocolate!

Valentine's Day 2012

Since the kids don't go to preschool yet, they didn't have a Valentine's Day party nor do they really understand the concept. They mainly know the holiday by color. Abs loves this one because of all the pink and red. We keep telling Jacky that St. Patrick's Day will be his fave. Josh can't wait for Easter.

I made the kids pose for pics. Out of all the pics I took, only a couple were good enough to post. It's getting more difficult because someone is usually not smiling, looking away, or not cooperating.

We got the kids some Squinkies instead of candy. Could this holiday be any more like Halloween?! Now we get to search high and low for lost coins and tiny little Squinkies. Fun!

The kids loved watching Sprout today because of all the themed cartoons. Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

Pre Valentine's Day

I decided to do a little pre-Valentine's Day photo shoot with the kids. Josh refused to wear a nice button down shirt. Sometimes, it's just not worth the argument!

My fave photos are of them hugging. Love that they love each other so much!

After that, Daddy whipped up some frosting with dye in it and they decorated sugar cookies, which he also made ;)

The kids decorated with M&M's and some gel frosting. They always stick to their colors!

The finished products:
They love to jump on Daddy and pretend he is a doggy. Pretty tough getting all three of them to stay on for long. So thankful to have a wonderful husband who is also a great father!

We Have A Date!

I was finally able to schedule my c-section date. We wanted April 17th (my dad's birthday), but the doctor's office wouldn't even do 2 days before 39 weeks. So, we picked the 19th, which puts us at exactly 39 weeks. We even get our absolute favorite doctor! We met him at our last appointment and he just put us at ease. He was so friendly and such a high energy guy.

I am very apprehensive about leaving my kids even for a couple of days. It's not that I don't trust that they will be okay, it's just that I have never been away from them, except when they were in the NICU. I don't feel the need to escape for a night or a vacation.

We are trying to soak up all the time before the baby arrives with just the 5 of us.

I know that these next 2 months will pass by quickly. We can't wait to meet our baby girl!

Jumpin' Joe's

Every Wednesday we get together for a play date with our friends. They couldn't make it yesterday, and the kids needed to do something other than build forts at home. So, what better place to run off some energy than Monkey Joe's!

We were the only ones there for quite some time! The kids wasted no time going down every slide.
Abs went down head first right away. She can be so careful sometimes, but she will definitely be the one to go on all the spinning rides and roller coasters!
We even tried our hand at some games. The kids didn't quite get the hang of Skee Ball, but they loved it none the less!
And Daddy sure did get a workout. While some other dads were sitting around, Chris was right there with the kids on every single slide. He really is just a big kid himself!

Chris had the kids going backwards, head first and upside down!

The kids got some ice-cream and even got to pick out some prizes. The ladies were kind enough to give them 3 of everything and extras!
Can't think of a better way to spend a winter day!

Building Snow Castles

To say that this winter has been kooky is an understatement. We get inches and inches of snow one day, and warm temps the next day.

This was one of those days where it was too nice to be inside. I still bundled up the kids and headed out.

They immediately grabbed their buckets and shovels and started building. Mind you, there were only 2 big piles of snow left!

They created snow castles up and down the driveway. You should have seen them work! If only they could clean up their toys with such tenacity!
The castles were not complete until they each had a stick.
Happy Jack!
The finished products.
We took a drive to run some errands, and by the time we got home, the sticks were all that was left of our snow castles!
