Be All That You Can Be

Yesterday, I slept late, took down the Christmas decorations, and had a great run. All in all, a good day.

Chubby Beagle and I did about 3 1/2 miles on the Greenway. Saw lots of folks- walkers, runners, cyclists, roller-bladers. I let him set the pace. We raced ahead for some stretches and walked leisurely for others. I felt great, just getting out there and running.

Lots of posting on the Penguin Runners list about confidence lately. I think my lack of it, comes from doing less than I am capable of. I know that running at all makes me more active than most folks. But I don't want to be better than most. I want to be the best that I can.

Today, I'll rest a little, walk the Beagle a little, and make 2007 plans!

New Year and New Me

It's time to get started. Why wait until Monday, like everyone else? It's time to eat better and run more. To return to my healthier self of just one year ago. It's scary how far you can slip in a year.

All in all, 2006 wasn't too bad. I did a handful of 5 Ks. I completed TWO half marathons in April. My month of rest became several months of rest and now, we're here. At the end of December and ready to re-new and re-commit.

How about some goals?
1. Get back to a healthy weight (160's)
2. Maintain that weight
3. Run at least 3 times per week
4. Finish a marathon
5. Maintain this blog to monitor my progress on 1-4

I may add some others later, but this is where I start. Today, right now, not Monday.

Happy New Year!
