Peanut faces

I just have to say that my Peanut is the funniest little guy I've ever met. The last couple of months have been exhausting for me. I'm growing bigger by the day and every inch my belly expands I slow down a little more, I spend a good part of the day resting with my feet up if I can find the time. Peanut does great at entertaining himself, but Walnut on the other hand needs distractions, this is where Peanut comes in. Peanut has become my little helper (well most of the time, if his favorite cartoons aren't currently on) he runs diapers to the trash, drags Walnut out of the plant and feeds his little brother whatever they can scrounge from their level in the pantry (don't worry I keep good stuff there now, I learned my lesson one day after finding the two of them eating brown sugar lumps and bitter chocolate from my baking goods shelf!) Anyway, baking goods moved higher, snacks down low, we've moved into a rhythm to the day. Recently, I've stopped lifting Walnut if I can at all help it, now remember he's a big guy (imagine a big, firm, ball of bread dough) well, Peanut has decided he can help out by lifting him places for me. There is less than 10 lbs difference in weight between my boys, so you can imagine the humorous scenes as Peanut hauls Walnut from one place to another, I don't let it get out of hand, but on more than one occasion have taken great enjoyment from watching the effort. Thank goodness for my little boys, they are great comic relief for this tired momma who spends her days, feet up, on the couch!

A Boy and a Girl!

In our last ultrasound we found out we're having a boy and a girl! The babies are healthy and measuring right on schedule. They are facing each other and kicking one another like crazy, (I guess I should be grateful they have someone other than me to kick). I'm so happy they are strong and healthy, but I have to say I'm most excited about that little girl. I can't believe I'm finally going to have a daughter. I was beginning to think I'd be the only female in this family forever. I made the ultrasound tech check three times during the test, just to be sure. I probably won't believe it until I hold her in my arms and check for myself but for now that's not stopping me from going "pink". After my appointment I went straight to the mall and bought the cutest little matching boy/girl outfits. I'm happy to say her outfit is all pink and totally girlie. We do have tentative names for the little ones; so far it's Greyson for our little boy and Addison for our baby girl. And just so we're all clear, I don't watch "Grey's Anatomy", I did not realize the similarities until just about everyone we told the names to, mentioned it. Anyway the names are not set in stone or anything so things could change in the next few months. Our families are thrilled and looking forward to healthy, happy babies. We told Peanut about his new little brother and sister and he has now taken up talking to my stomach daily. He constantly asks where his little baby brother is and where his sister is, I point to each side of my tummy and away he chats with the little ones. It's so cute! Walnut on the other hand is completely oblivious to the shake-up his world is about to get. I don't worry about him too much though, he has aunts on both sides who are determined to make sure our sweet, quite little guy is not forgotten in all the coming craziness.

Trade offs

Each day I wake up the first thing I think is, how long is this day going to be? I know it's probably a strange way to start out the day, but I swear these days lately are so long. Maybe it's because it's been really cold here, we haven't had a temperature above freezing in nearly a month. Perhaps it's because of the terrible inversion that comes with the freezing weather or the dense fog that when combined with that inversion could make me think I'm alone in this little house, out in the middle of nowhere. Some days, the boys and I stay in our pajamas all day, something I'm trying to make a better effort at since my neighbor stopped by last week at 2:00 in the afternoon only to find us all still in our PJ's. I thought I'd feel better once the nausea finally stopped but so far, other than not running to the toilet every hour, I'm still exhausted and consider it a successful day if I vacuum one room or empty the dishwasher. I got the basic's down and most days I remember to change diapers and feed Peanut and Walnut, but it seems like anything above and beyond that will just have to wait. Wait for what I'm not sure, my last two pregnancies I felt great after the first trimester, I had energy and got things done before I got too big. This time around I just feel tired, maybe the twins are sucking twice the energy from me or maybe I'm just old and lazy, either way at the rate I'm growing I'll be to fat to get around even if I do get any last minute bursts of energy. My belly is growing at an amazing rate, I'm already having problems carrying Walnut, and I can see I won't be able to pick him up much longer. Oh well, I guess that's the trade off for having two babies at once.
