Progression

OK for those of you men out there who have never given birth, you may not understand....but ask any woman who has been pregnant and she knows just how I'm feeling right now. There comes a point in any pregnancy where you're sure you can't be pregnant for one more day. You can't eat because there's no where for the food to go, you can't sleep due to various reasons, mine are because my back is killing me and I have to get up to go the bathroom every hour. So how good was the news I got today at my Doctor's appointment? I'm just about 34 weeks along, babies are nice and big, weighing in at 5lbs 2oz and 5lbs 4 oz. I'm dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. YEA! I guess the only bad news is our little girl is being stubborn and refuses to turn head down. Looks like we'll be going for a c-section. The doctor would like to wait to deliver about 3 more weeks but feels like if we get 2 more weeks, we'll be lucky. I really want healthy babies that can come home with me but I also want them out of me right now. It's kind of like my little internal war. Well, looks like I'd better get things ready around here, I guess these babies could join us at any time.

Belly shot

Well, I'm going to have to suck up my pride for this post, it's not going to be pretty but will best illustrate what's going on here at our house, Peanut insists on putting his hands on my belly for all the shots, I think he just wants to be in all the pictures.
This is me at 31 weeks. I'm now measuring at term for a singleton baby, 40+ weeks! I still have at least 4-6 weeks left, as you can see my belly is quite large, my back is killing me and I'm exhausted after just walking up the stairs...my OB says this is nothing and it's going to get much worse...thanks for sugar coating it Doc!? Anyway, at my last check-up, the doctor announced that my days of shopping, cleaning, laundry and chasing my kids are over....at least for a few weeks, he said it's not bed rest but just to try to relax. Yea right, relax while my house is falling apart. Well, I think between The One who Works and my Mom, things will stay under control. They've both been great to pick up where I've left off...did I mention that I've left off everywhere! Hopefully the weeks will pass quickly. I'm really getting excited to see my little ones!

Whew, Graduation Day!

Finally, after three long years of papers, study groups, and late night cram sessions, The One who Works has his MBA. It was a process he started three years ago when we first learned we'd be loosing our jobs at Southwest Airlines. It was a very scary time for our little family. Peanut was born 3 weeks after he started his first class. We knew we needed to prepare ourselves for life outside of our cosy little airline world. The One who Works was a trooper, he dove into the work hard and finished his Bachelors Degree last year, then without much of a break he started again and in just over one year completed his MBA. We are all so proud of him, it's been a hectic three years, in addition to adding nearly 4 children to our family during that time, he worked full time, switched jobs three times, and still graduated with straight A's! I'm so grateful for a husband who is willing to work hard for the sake of his family. I know he does not love school, and I know he would prefer to stay home with me and the kids (obviously he has no idea what really goes on here), yet every day he drives the long drive to work, nearly an hour in each direction, goes to class, writes endless papers and still has time to wash the whites for a very pregnant wife who is just to exhausted...without him we would have no clean underwear. Anyway, I just wanted to say THANK YOU HONEY, and CONGRATULATIONS! We knew you could do it!

Mini-van Mom

Ok, so I've never considered myself an especially cool mom. I never keep up with fashions, rarely spoil my children and could care less wether or not I'm wearing make-up for a quick stop at the store. I do however drive a relativly nice SUV. OK, so we did not buy it new, but it was loaded with all the fun gagets and looked good, and I have loved driving it these past few years. It's kind of ironic actually, on the way to that fateful OB appointment last December where our wonderful twin babies were discovered, The One who Works and I actually had a conversation about how grateful we were that our beloved SUV would be able to fit three carseats across the back to hold our growing brood. How wrong we were, one short ultrasound later, we came to the realization that we were going to need a new vehicle. We naturally assumed that we'd just get a bigger SUV, but after test driving many, and moving carseats around endlessly we found that because our little boys are still so young, they are unable to buckle themsleves into their safty seats alone. Meaning, I have to crawl over two infant seats everytime just to buckle them all in, it was never going to work. At first The One who Works took it the hardest, that is until he found the perfect mini-van. It really was a great deal, very low miles, leather, all the bells and whisles, he was satisfied...I on the other hand was not. I just did not consider myself a mini-van mom. I guess I should stop at this point for a reality check...if I am not a prime canidate for being a mini-van Mom, who is? Anyway, we have our new mini-van, and it is very nice. In fact when I'm sitting inside, I can almost pretend that I'm in some cool mom car. So the next time you see me drive by in a new mini-van , my hair blowing in the wind, smile on my face, I'm probably imagening, me and my four babies are in some trendy little sports car!
