The End of an Era...

From THIS...

To THIS....

Because I love her so much!

Even when she does this...
That's right- I am no longer a flight attendant for JetBlue :(. Even though my leave wasn't over, an offer to opt-out came up and I just had to take it! This way I wouldn't end up quitting and not getting benefits like free flights for as many years as I had worked at JetBlue!

A Pretty Big Deal...

Here's a brief but overdue update...
Nope, I'm not pregnant... anymore!
But I was...
This was at 16 wks
This was maybe 28 wks
This was days before giving birth!
And now I have a BEAUTIFUL baby girl:
DANNAN HUNT
July 3, 2011
7lbs 11oz

Exhausted, but thoroughly in love!
Since she arrived we have been having tons of fun...
I feel so blessed to have Dannan in my life and lucky that I get to be a mom!

Anything but homework....

Yes- that is my motivation for blogging..... don't judge!

I am actually talking about MY homework for a change- I realized I've never mentioned to blog-world that I am in school. California sucks for many reasons- one.it is not TEXAS (I must represent) two.it is bankrupt BUT community college costs $26 a unit (aka credit). SO I am taking advantage of the time we are here to get my associates degree..... in something TBD. This is my second semester at Mt. San Antonio College, and it has been fun. I guess a seven year break was just what I needed to really enjoy school again! I use the term 'enjoy' loosely- as you can see I am already avoiding homework... (some habits are hard to break).

While looking over all my previous blogs (yes I am really dedicated to this procrastination) I noticed that I shared all my excitement about getting my place in California, but then I never shared pictures! Without further ado....

These were all taken before we moved in...almost TWO years ago! I will have to take some new ones of all the changes we have made.

The front patio

A view back to the front door

Looking in the front door- one of two fireplaces in our house that have NEVER been used!

Rounding the corner to the stairs (the kitchen is behind the left wall). That's the garage door in the back... there is also a half bath tucked in back there.

The master bedroom and huge bathroom area

To the left of the mirror is the walk in closet- awesome if I do say so... this place has so many closets and storage- I love it!

Down the hall to the other two bedrooms and guest bath

Well- I guess it's back to homework for me....

Saturday

Today Josh and I aren't really doing anything fun... boo:(. I did meet up with some of the other Western student's wives for a little picnic outside the children's museum (they all took their kids). Josh is studying his brain away for his reproduction final. This last week he actually delivered a plastic baby! Good practice- right? haha no home births for me- I will be having all my babies at a hospital thankyouverymuch!

It has been absolutely beautiful here for the last few weeks, but since we aren't out enjoying it today- here's a look back to New Year's Eve at the beach (another gorgeous day!)

Favorite things... Kitchen edition

So instead of dreaming of some fabulous gourmet kitchen I might have someday, I decided to focus on the things I love in the one I have now!

A clean refrigerator... really a clean anything (I'm kinda a clean freak!).

A full bowl of fruit

My smiley face spatula- only to be used on cookies- of course!

And I believe everyone must have a favorite mug for sipping cocoa or cider...

Johnny and Cindy Hunt

Although we questioned if this day would ever come- it did and it was fabulous! September 23 Johnny and Cindy tied the knot at the Salt Lake Temple. It was such a gorgeous day and we couldn't be more happy for them!

Since then we have crashed at their place in Bountiful twice! I hope we can make that a regular thing cause I love spending time with these two!

Summer- Part II

After Salzburg we headed north to Nurnberg, with a stop in Dachau. It was such a unique experience to feel what we felt there.

We stuck to the WWII theme in Nurnberg- touring the Documentation Center and learning a little history. It seemed we walked miles and miles in this city, and we were getting a little tired on our whirlwind trip, but Beate- Josh's classmate's mom was a great tour guide and hostess despite the slight language barrier!

Then on to Prague...

And Berlin...

...And all the way back to Copenhagen, where we got to spend the last few days of our trip with my dad and his wife Marion. Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities- mostly cause my dad lives there, but also because I have Danish blood! During this trip we were able to visit a town called Magleby- I actually have ancestors from here with the same name- Magleby! I think that's pretty cool, and it was a very cute town to visit!

We also made time for my favorite sights around Copenhagen

This is the Royal Palace where the Queen lives.

Rilee was most excited to see the statue of the Little Mermaid, but she (Ariel) was on tour in Tokyo so we only got to see a live video feed of her :(.

We did get to see the Queen's yacht docked in the harbor. Josh wasn't all that impressed- it's no bigger than ours! ha ha We actually saw this yacht sailing on the open seas a couple days later when we took a ferry to Sweden. We heard later that the Queen was traveling to the Faroe Islands- pretty cool if I do say.

On a drive north of Copenhagen we stopped to tour a famous Danish castle and have a picnic lunch in their award winning "backyard"!

A few more random pics from the trip...

The only picture we took in Iceland- on the way back to the states... Rilee enjoying a nap.

We were super sad to leave Europe, so we lessened the blow by having Kirsten meet us in Boston and having another three day trip! I won't bore you with a play by play of this one, but here's a few highlights:

We started one day with a swan boat ride and visit to the Make Way for Ducklings sculpture.

Then we walked almost the entire freedom trail which I highly recommend- it was a great history lesson and a fun way to see the whole city!

I know this seems like a ton of fun for one summer, but it didn't even end there! We were sad to part ways with Rilee and Kirsten, but they had to get back to Seattle and we were on to the next stop: Salt Lake City. We visited with family and friends for a couple weeks and then headed to Amarillo to meet Josh's birth mom! Johnny also proposed to Cindy on the drive down to A-town. We stayed with the Baird's and even got some time in with my brothers- really just a great trip! It was six weeks away from California, but we had a great time!
