Happy "Real" Birthday Brycen

We have been waiting for this day for 4 years!!!!!!  I cannot believe that 4 years ago I was trying with all my might to NOT deliver a baby on Leap Day...  I am so happy that I did and that my baby has a unique day and that it is finally here!  The odds of being born on Leap Day? 1 in 1,461.

Then

Now

Anyway on to the partaaay...  Brycen had his party at a pizza place here called Pizza Marzano.  It was fun for the kids as they all got to decorate their own aprons and chefs hats and make their own pizzas.  I'm not talkin' dinky personal pan pizzas. These were good sized 11" pizzas.  The kids had a blast pounding out the dough, crimping the sides, spreading the tomato sauce and adding their favorite toppings. Then came cake time.  I am not an accomplished baker so I called on my friend Patty to help me with the cake.  I was just about to order a cake with this same design for about $150 (and that was only for a 9x13!!!!!).  I decided we could do this.  I made the cakes and she helped me make the frosting (store bought frosting was just not going to cut it...)I think it turned out fabulous.  I loved it and so did everyone at the party.  Thank you so much Patty.

Brycen had a great time and I think the party was a total success especially when you think we had 17 kids under the age of 5!!

the favors (thanks Whitney for your creativity)

At school today we celebrated Brycen's birthday by bringing in white chocolate dipped rice krispie treats...yum and doing the sun/earth song.  Brycen held the earth in his hands and went around the sun 4 times, stopping to tell what he was doing when he turned one (started talking), two (moved to China), three(started in Ms. Alisa's class and rode a pony) and what he wants to do while he is four (learn to read!).
Happy Birthday Brycen!  I love you, your gentle spirit and the way you always keep us laughing.

Brotherly Love

Last night the family was getting ready to meet some friends (that live a few floors down) for dinner.  We were supposed to meet in the lobby at 5:30.  As we were hustling around getting shoes and coats on the following dialogue took place...
Les:  "Where is Saria?"
Me:  "Look in the kitchen she is probably playing in the cupboards"
Les:  "Already looked, not in there"
Me:  "The bathroom?"
Les: yelling for Saria "nope not in there"
All this was taking place as Brycen is "helping" Les look for Saria.
Me:  "Brycen, did you push the elevator button already?"
Brycen:  "Yes"
Me:  "Well did it come up yet?"
Brycen: "Yes"
The phone rings...it is our friends downstairs in the lobby asking if we were missing a baby!  WHAT!
Apparently Brycen (which he is denying) held the elevator door loong enough for Saria to crawl on.  I guess she must have stopped and picked up some other passengers on her long ride down ALONE from the 55th floor because she was carried off by some Chinese woman who didn't know what to do with her and deposited her to the girl in the lobby.  Our friends, thankfully, happened to be standing there waiting for us and overheard the girl in the lobby call security to ask them what to do.
Once I knew she was safe in the arms of our friends I started to laugh...Les however was not laughing as he was trying to teach Brycen a valuable lesson of not putting your sister on the elevator ALONE.  hee hee
