Greg's Photos of Calf Creek

Image
When I went up north the first weekend of May for Stacie's graduation from USU, Greg went on a hike to Calf Creek Falls. Here are some of his awesome photos. He's such a good photographer!

Snow Canyon Parkway

Since our blog is "What's up Down South" (which, incidentally, will still work for us in Provo!) I thought I would share a few photos of what really is up down south. St. George is beautiful! I have really loved the weather this spring and there's just something amazing about desert flora a fauna. It's so diverse and it's amazing to see it thrive in the heat of the desert. Greg and I like to take bike rides — did one this morning in fact — and one of the roads we go on is called Snow Canyon Parkway. It has a paved biking/walking trail (as much of St. George does, and I will say their trail system is awesome) and it is probably the prettiest stretch of "city" road that Greg and I have seen. One day we were out riding, and we noticed these beautiful flowering cacti at the entrance to one of the many gated communities along the parkway. We stopped and talked to the grounds keeper about it, and he said it's this special type of cactus that only f...

Memorial Day 2008

Image
What a great Memorial Day! Greg and I went camping for three nights at Bryce Canyon National Park. We got to our KOA late on Friday night and weren't sure which tent site was ours (and we didn't want to pitch the tent in the dark and cold) so we actually stayed in a little motel that night. Then on Saturday we went to the North Campground in Bryce and found the perfect tent site. It was such a fun weekend. We hiked and roasted marshmallows and ate s'mores! I had some new camping gear that I love! We also tried some new camp cooking: Mountain House dinners. They're these packets of all types of freeze-dried food (breakfast, dinner, dessert) that you just add boiling water to and eat. They were surprisingly delicious! Despite the rain and snow, I stayed really warm with Greg's awesome fires and his really good down sleeping bag. Another help was the fact that we took hot showers at this cool place called Ruby's Inn, just outside of the park. The...

Flower Arrangement

Image
In March, the Dixie College Foundation had an event called Fire & Ice. It's the only black tie event we do, and it's pretty awesome. The flowers were incredible! Luckily, I got to bring one of the flower arrangements home, and I loved it so much that I wanted to make my own, patterned after the Fire & Ice one. So, I took a trip to Tai Pan (any excuse will do!) and started picking out all of my flowers. The original flowers from Fire & Ice were more purple and green than the pink and white I ended up choosing, but I just love pink. So, at Tai Pan I spent all of this time picking out exactly which flowers I wanted. It took quite awhile because their flower section is so extensive. I finally get everything picked out and have this cart overflowing with flowers, and the check out girl was like, "Did you know that next weekend all floral items are 25% off?" No. I didn't know. But, since I was buying so much, I knew it would be worth it to wait f...

Baby Gift

It's good to catch up on my blog for a minute! This photo is of a diaper cake that I made on behalf of our office for baby Rhett. Rhett is the newly-born son of Steve and Becky Johnson. I work with Steve and Greg works with Becky, so it's kind-of funny that we work with each other's spouses. The little fuzzy leopard on this cake is my fave! It's a webkins. I also must say that Tai Pan is excellent for any ribbon needs you may have!
