Blowing Dandelions

Anthony and Luca were in the front yard playing this evening. Tossing the football around, chasing the soccer ball, looking at the birds. When I peeked outside though, I saw a sight that took my breath away. In the middle of the grass, crouched down was Anthony with Luca standing in front of him. Anthony had his arm around Luca, hugging him close, holding a dandelion in his hand. Slowly, he was showing Luca how to blow the seeds away. He would blow, then put it in front of Luca to try. Such a simple moment, but absolutely breathtaking.

Luca's favorite book

First of all, this is our amazing new toddler table!! Luca is still slightly small for it, but he loves to sit at "his" table and read, color, or play with Play-doh.

This is Luca's absolute favorite book. It's a photo album of his first 6 months (the only ones I've printed so far...) It sits on his shelf in his room and he always goes and gets it and says "baby" (because there is a baby on the cover.) He will sit and look through it several times a day. He can say mama, dada, nana, and papa at the right pictures and can point out his Grandpa and Grandma if you ask. He tries to say cousin Amy, but it comes out "mama", which is what a lot of his words sound like. :)

I don't know if it's narcissistic at this age, but man does this kid love to look at himself. ;)

Nice

Luca's new word is "nice". He says it in a very drawn out nnnn-iiii-ssssssss. Anthony says "nice" quite a bit and I say "be nice" or "that wasn't very nice" and I guess he picked it up. He practiced all day and finally got the whole word out. We are really impressed because he doesn't have many full words yet. He can say part of words or the beginning, but not all the syllables. So, it was "nice" that he got the "nn" part and the "ss" part.

The best is that he's sitting in his crib practicing right now. He's supposed to be sleeping, but I hear "nice...nice...nice". He is so cute.

The Buzz

I wish I had a better picture, but here's a sneak peek at Luca's new buzz cut. :)

We took him to get his haircut on Tuesday and I told the woman I wanted it shaved in the back and on the sides but longer on top. I meant LONGER on top, but she didn't really get it. She shaved the back and sides first and it looked very cute. He still had some hair on top and bangs in front. But then she started cutting the top with scissors - and cutting and cutting and cutting... So, buzzed it is, I guess. Most of all, he looks OLD! His toddler teachers call him the "Macho Man" now. :)
