Christmas break in PA

We left for Pennsylvania the morning after Christmas.  Christmas Day Jared was sick with a stomach bug, and the morning after Christmas Hyrum came to our room about 4:30 in the morning saying he had just thrown up.  We tried to decide what to do since we were planning on hitting the road in another 30 minutes.  We asked him what he wanted to do and he still wanted to go, so we gave him a bowl and he drove to Pennsylvania with the stomach bug.  He was a trooper and we made it without too much trouble.

We had a lot of fun in Pennsylvania with Jared's family.  We never remember to take many pictures, but we did get a few.  We were also fortunate to capture this video of PapPap playing the harmonica.  He plays everything by ear and is very talented!

Playing Hulabaloo

This picture was funny because they were watching a movie and actually having a good time, but you would never know it from the picture.
Leah went on a Dad/daughter date with Jared to try super hot wings.

Happy New Year!

December Misc.

Here are some other misc. things from December.

Jared and Kaitlyn enjoyed a date to see The Nutcracker at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.

Amy and Hyrum enjoyed fun class parties at school.

Jared made a lot of progress on the entertainment center cabinets and mantel he has been building and I finally finished Amy's stocking after 5 years!  Here's a look at our mantel with 6 completed stockings.

Leah's concert

While I was in Utah Leah had her high school orchestra concert.  Jared took these videos so I could enjoy them too.

Utah Trip

I took a trip to Utah the beginning of December to attend Grandma Pace's funeral and to also spend time with family there.  Here are my thoughts I posted on Facebook about my grandma and the funeral:

"I just attended my grandmother's funeral. It was touching and wonderful for an angelic woman. I now have proof that she was always that good. Her sister wrote her a letter in the 1960's saying that she was the only sibling that none of them ever fought with. All of us who know her know why. I also received a special answer to prayer today. I was praying for another witness that the Plan of Salvation is indeed true. At certain times in life it's just good to receive witness again that the gospel is true. I was reading from the Ensign magazine this morning and came across this scripture in D&C 76:22-23: And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him". I received such an overwhelming confirmation that indeed it's all true and it's sacred and glorious. This answer came in a special and unexpected way that I can't deny. It's one of a few times in my life that I've felt the Spirit so strongly."

Here are some of the memories from the trip:

December Family Home Evenings

We try to have some fun Family Home Evenings in the month of December.  This year we went ice skating, invited another family to make gingerbread houses with us and attended a violin recital for Leah and Kaitlyn.
