Stinker!!

OH....MY.....

Katherine is 16 months old and as both my mother and mother-in-law have said "HER BRAIN WORKS LIKE A BOY!!"

Here is why they might say that:

She climbed the pantry yesterday...and fell.

She drops things from various heights just to watch them fall.

She DESTROYS anything she can get her hands on. I imagine her thoughts going something like this "hmmm, I wonder how this works. Gee I don't know, but I bet if I take it totally apart so that no two things even touch anymore, I might figure it out!" - Only she hasn't gotten the 'putting-it-back-together' thing down yet!

She can open child-proof containers. Medicine bottles should now read "Child-proof, except for Katherine."

She is VERY interested in the toilet. She can flush it, unroll the entire roll of toilet paper in record time and....are you ready....has actually gone #1 in the toilet twice just because it is the thing to do!! She does play in the toilet too, which is totally disgusting, so now we are working on Maddy making sure she shuts the door when she goes in the bathroom and when she is finished. It is OFF LIMITS to Katherine!!

She can climb out of her crib (and I DON'T leave her in it if she isn't sleeping) She just grabs the top corner of the crib and lifts one leg up and flips her entire body over and out!!! Not a fun landing, but she gets her desired results.

She has become a problem solver....if she can't reach it (and mommy won't give it to her) she has discovered that she can push a chair to the counter, get on the counter to get a sucker. She tried the same thing to get Grandma's candy off the entertainment center and got discouraged when she reached the carpet...it didn't work so well for her :)

Just a side note: she is getting 6 teeth right now. All 4 I-teeth and 2 bottom molars. Since she already has her two top molars, these 6 make for the last teeth for a little while. Next come the 2 year molars and we are done for a long while....woo-hoo!!!

She counts 'One-Two-Three-Jump!'

This is a cute story:
Madelynn in learning her letters very well lately. She can spell her name in sign language and can point out some of the letters in the alphabet. My mom made flash cards that have the letter and something familiar to her on them, like a picture of her cousins on the letter of their first name. So, for example, 'S' is Sarah, and 'N' is Nana. So Madelynn points out letters all day long which is really fun. The one she knows the best, of course, is M-for Maddy!!

So yesterday I am holding Katherine while I am getting something out of the fridge and she points to the letters on the fridge and says "M". She did that over and over - m...m...m....m, all the while pointing to different letters on the fridge. It was SO STINKIN' CUTE!!!!

Just wanted to share....

a memorable event......

I have been trying to catch urine from Katherine all morning!!!

She has a possible Urinary Tract Infection. We went to the doctor yesterday afternoon and this morning I was supposed to put a bag on her to try and catch a sample of urine. After 3 hours of wearing the silly thing she finally peed (spelling??) not even 1/16th of a teaspoon. I am no expert, but I am pretty sure that is not enough of a sample to do anything with. So I emptied the bag into the little sample cup and tried to put the bag back on her. But after 3 hours of wear and her pulling it off multiple times, it lost its stickiness and won't stick to her anymore.

So I am thinking she has got to pee sometime soon, lets just keep her on the toilet and try to catch it in the cup....yes!!! NO!! She sits there for over 10 minutes giving me nothing, so I decide to let her play. Besides she has a fit EVERY time she has to pee, she will definately let me know when it is comin'. Right?? Well....not so much.

A few minutes later I find a puddle right in front of the TV.

Now I get to call the doctor to get another pee bag and start all over with the salty foods and liquids....WOO-HOO!!
